Which fantasy 'evil' race is the most interesting one?

I am about to create my fifth, and probably final for the time being, fantasy city set, but i am not sure which race it will be of. Since by now i have two good races (Elves and Halflings), one neutral (Humans) and one evil (Orcs) the logical thing seems to be to create another evil one.

I thought of some possibilities.

-Goblins might be interesting. I suspect they were mostly depicted as cave-dwellers though, and i would need some urban or at least quasi-urban buildings as well.

-Vampires could work, since i can use Wallachian architecture, and there is plenty of concept art around.

-I thought of Skaven, but they are basically scavengers below the earth, so the 'city' would have to be some ruins along with a vast hole leading below, and maybe a summoning bell above it.

You can propose other evil sets if you want to, or help me choose one of the aforementioned ones.

The only evil race besides Orcs I can think of are Dark Elves. There's Trolls and Goblins, but I always think of them as either mindless monsters or Orc allies, certainly not independent city builders (I blame Warcraft).
You cold obviously use elven architecture as a basis and make it look more 'evil': more black, more red, more spikes, make towers and walls thicker to look more imposing etc...

How about the Undead? It is more encompassing than just vampires but can include them as well.

Personally, I think lizardmen/reptoids would be cool. I would give them a sort of Meso-American looking temple city, but with cool volcanic rock and lava like additions.

Dark Elves are pretty interesting but I think RA Salvatore is a terrible author and the only reason his books are popular is because of the interest of the subject and the fact that his novels are like the book equivalent of an action movie.

you did the terrain in the LOTM , that Civ3 mod ? Cool ...

if not , still cool ...

I am not sure if any version of LOTM uses stuff by me, but if it does i am not aware of it anyway...

The terrain in the pic is by Ares_De_Borg, the cities and some other terrain gfx (such as the fort and the tower and the windmill) are by me :)

I think that i will try to make a dark elf set, since they do seem interesting.

Btw if you happen to know any games that feature the Dark Elves and their architecture, feel free to suggest i have a look at them. I know WCIII has them, but i have never really liked the gfx in that series (which is otherwise excellent). If you can post pics of darkelf buildings that would be even greater of course...

I personaly would avoid Dark Elves, I've never seen a fantasy world that has been able to pull them off well. I think that classical Vampires might work better as you can use alot of the same thematic material as Dark Elves, but have more to draw on.

No reason to use the usual suspects. Could be centaurs, or tiger people or some sort elves who aren't dark, just evil.

Melniboneans are pretty badass.

Shades/wraiths.

how about evil dwarves? you could just play up the industry part of standard dwarf lore and make them a race of Captain Planet villains.

The Undead in Disciples II is a cool race imo.

Are you familiar with the Elder Scrolls series? The Dunmer (dark elf) race is definitely interesting, IMO, compared with other settings that use the race. They are also fairly variable as far as culture/architecture though.

I would defintely look to the game Morrowind for inspiration. There were the nomadic Dunmer that lived in Mongolian yurts tribal villages, a city built within a giant king crab shell, step pyramids built on water, wizard's towers inside giant mushroom type cities, etc.

How about instead of werewolves, you go with Gnolls or Kobolds? They would get my vote.
