I'd like to learn Mandarin and Latin. I'm already studying Spanish and I intend to get at least a minor in it and probably go on to be fluent. I'm able to do stuff at my high school that leaves me only 1 class away from a spanish minor at my state college. Neither Mandarin or Latin is very likely to happen in the foreseeable future though. Latin will probably be first because it would be a ton easier after learning spanish than chinese.

well, I took german in HS because we have some german ancestry (more Irish) and that was a mistake. Tough language and of little use, spanish is what I wish I took.

speak french and hebrew.

want to learn japanese.

Scandinavian language I want to move to one of tose countries eventually.

Portuguese has always sounded like broken Spanish to me...

Portuguese sounds nothing like Spanish!

Since I can't put Spanish, I think I'd like to learn Portuguese or Italian. They're pretty and I'm already part way there.

I suppose there's French too, but it's weird.

Catalan?

Had to pop in to say "no." Portugese is Spanish with the sexy cranked up to 1 million.

Anyway, having Japanese and Italian under my belt, I'd go for maybe Finnish or Khmer, just to keep the trend towards less and less likely to actually use.

I've already got this hemisphere covered except for Brazil and Quebec.

I don't have much of an interest in learning languages if I don't have to. So it depends on which country I crash next for an extended amount of time.

Go crash out somewhere in the former Turkenstan and bring me back a language?

I've always wanted to crash Central Asia for spring break! Samarkand '09! Wooooooooooooooo!

Seriously I would love to go there.

I want to learn Polish. Tried to enlist for a Polish course this semester, but the classes they offer are only large enough for 15 people, so I have to wait 2 semesters to get into it. Actually, that's quite sad, if you think about Poland as one of our most important neighbours. Add to that, that our common past is quite f*cked up and desperatly needs people who can communicate with each other...

But anyway, I just want to be a rich, patronizing landlord in eastern Prussia... ;) :p

I'm trying to get the man to let me go live there for the summer, and maybe even longer. Then I can come home and do my graduate studies on Central Asia.

The man is your dad? Seriously sounds like an awesome idea. Save up your money and go. Which country are you thinking exactly?

I've always thought it would be awesome to drive across Asia like they do on the Discovery Channel. It's something I'd like to do (partially at least) before I die. Maybe I could swing by your crib on the way.

No I mean like a government sponsored trip, aka work from 9-5 then spend the rest of my time taking in the country.

I'd like to do something with the military and being a translator for that part of the world after grad school.

Like with the Peace Corps? Well that's even better.

If the military won't let me go and do what I want, then I think I'll be open to other routes. If not the Peace Corps, then maybe something with the State Dept. or something.

Russian. I find the russian culture most interesting.

First I'd like to strengthen my Italian and my German. Spanish would be a good choice, but I'm very very curious with Arabic.
