GoldenEye, again. Excellent film.
I believe you misunderestimated the picture, I, for one, quite enjoyed it.
I was unimpressed with the film, but I didn't hate it. Just thought that it was mostly a waste of time. :dunno:

I saw four of the five of the Short Animated films nominated of an Oscar.

Lavatory - Lovestory - Alright, funny and sweet
La Maison En Petits Cubes - Nice story and visuals
Oktapodi - Absolutely amazing computer animation and beautiful art style. (Reminded me of Team Fortress 2) Also funny and interesting
Presto - Already seen it with Wall-E, but still very funny and well made

Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical

merely a made-for-tv musical from 2005 (based upon a US propaganda-ish piece of the 1930s) this probably is my second pick for movie of the decade now. sheer brilliance. I don't even care about the weed aspect of it since I do not use it nor enjoy it, it is merely a plot hook. excellent actors, music you won't be able to get out of your head for two weeks at least (and counting), very good writing and chuckle-worthy comedy mixed with some laugh-out-loud moments.

10/10. simply amazing.

The Women

good parts? seeing Debra Messing again, always delightful, as well as Meg Ryan (though she seems to morph into Melanie Griffith somehow)

bad parts? as always. women like to shop, have an inherent need to hold onto their partners or steal another ones. oh and women gossip. when a woman suddenly realizes her lifelong ambition she a) always succeeds and b) it is always because she has no partner she would not rather cater to. the pre-pubescent daughter serves only to despise her mother when she is not able to hold onto her man, serve as a makeshift link between two friends (the mother and that woman I can not stand) because she has "boy troubles" and to be a tool (in every sense of the word) in the "plot" to get her parents back together. after all, daddy only cheated once (that we know of) and that is "ok", see below.

the one homosexual relationship (apparently required by the screenwriter's guild now) does not get a story arc, does not get to even have a kiss, is there only to enhance the attractiveness of the hottie of the week and for comedic relief.
oh, and men are apparently always allowed a freebie when it comes to affairs.

2/10 1,5 points for debra messing and 0,5 for making me chuckle at times even though I hated the movie.

gods be praised I am now turning into a woman. egads!

Valkyrie - fully prepared to hate it. didn't. finally a movie featuring Germans where the English parts are spoken by good native English speaking actors without a fake german accent and the German parts are spoken by Germans. well, most of the time... I won't nitpick too much but this was surely a step in the right direction as far as I am concerned and this is a pet peeve of mine. Mr. Evil Incarnate Tom Cruise himself did a very decent job with his few lines of German for somebody who has virtually no experience in foreign languages. well done. somehow the word Führer seems to be the most difficult for English speakers....

I will leave historical accuracy to people who have more experience with that particular aspect of the Tirhd Reich. I require one thing from movies, that they be entertaining. I was entertained. only seeing Bruno Ganz revisiting his part as Hitler (from Der Untergang) would have improved the picture as far as acting is concerned. this version's was poor (when he talked).

a very surprised 8/10

also, this just in: Bill Nighy is awesome

Was trying to watch The Chronicles of Riddick, but the darn disk kept skipping. Kind of too slow at first, but the intrigue got a little interesting.

Zack and Miri Make a Porno: One thumb down. It escape two because there were a few hilarious scenes.

Madagascar 2: Two thumbs down.

W. : Two thumbs down. I can usually deal with Stone's films inaccuracies because he's a good filmmaker, but this one just sucked.

Defiance:
not historically good, but a VERY WELL MADE action flick, that happens to have partisans in it.

Australia:
havent seen such a load of cliches in one movie in a while.
managed to almost get to the half way point.
then i left.
oh, and its 2.5 hours.....
avoid on pain of no booty tonight!

Found that one quite fun to watch, much like I did Pitchblack.

Saw the opening of Wolfgang Petersen's remake of The Poseidon Adventure - apart from the great wave it seemed to emulate the dullness of the original, especially actingwise - and Fun with Dick and Jane (Carrey doing his usual antics - not much to laugh at, except perhaps for die hard Carrey fans; sad to say that it is easily eclipsed by Chaplin's epically hilarious treatment of the subject of unemployment, to which Carrey doesn't even come close).

Forgot to mention I saw Memoirs of a geisha a while ago: grippingly romantic, beautifully shot, excellent choreographies.

Catch you later!;)

Australia - Bad
Seven pounds - Bad
The Squid and The Whale - Good
Role Models - Okay

CAMP. It's an IFC movie. Hilarious to anyone who was ever a theater geek.

There is one problem with historical movies like this - you know what will happen.
I betcha there are plenty of awesome historical topics waiting for films that you don't know the ending to. Like, say, a biography of Eumenes of Kardia. ;)

W. -- Not the terrible movie everyone makes it out to be. Not just a bashing movie. I had my sights set pretty low for this one, so maybe that's why I considered it a decent movie. Not great, just decent.

Religulous. -- I have to admit I liked it. Even chuckled at times. The way Bill Maher presents himself made me feel guilty at first for liking it. But then I remembered religion isn't immune to ridicule, and underlying question is a valid one. This is the first time I ever watched anything from BM. Although I can see why people were offended. The cut-in images and texts were a bit childish though.

Hellboy II -- Just Wheee!
