Which Would You Choose

Suppose you were presented with the following two choices by a newly elected king of the universe. You have only these two things to choose from. The one you choose will be the one that goes into effect.

A. On the one hand we can have a socio-economic system where some people win and some people lose, some are rich, some are poor, some live in mansions and some are homeless.

B. OR we could have a socio-economic system where everyone has life long material security, meaning everyone has a house, maybe a little below average of what we would have under option A but no one has a mansion and no one is homeless. Yes it's a system of mediocrity. But at least everyone has life long material security.

Which would you choose? These are your only two choices. The king of the universe doesn't want to hear you complain about the choices. He just wants you to make your choice between the two options presented. If you complain and choose something else the king will have you beheaded, shot, electricuted and then be turned into pig feed.

In other words, given only A and B, which would be best in your opinion and why? And being king of the universe this king has the power to create the two systems mentioned.

EDIT: I've even cast my own vote so we start out with 1 in favor of option B. I'd rather see everyone have material security at the cost of the potential opportunity to live in a mansion.

I understand system A and how it could work. It's just like the system we have now.

I don't understand how system B would work and that scares me.

Capitalism vs communism as they are practiced is not a dichotomy between extreme inequality vs equal but relative well-off. Rather, it's the opposite:

In capitalism (with welfare), you have 1% extremely rich, 79% well off, 20% poor but secure.
In communism, you have 1% extremely rich (the Party cadres), and 99% poor but secure, unless it's a famine in which case it'd be 99% poor and insecure.

This poll would be relevant if communists can actually find a way to deliver mediocrity, as opposed to total disaster.

Then you win the Darwin award. The king turns you into pig feed and your genetics are removed from the human species. End of discussion. You have only option A or B. You can certianly choose to die but keep in mind you are also expressing yourself in the form of your refusal to choose the system whereby everyone has life long material security.

A discussion of capitalism vs communism is really outside the scope of the poll. The choice is between a system where some are rich and some are poor and a system where everyone has lifelong material security but everyone also lives a bit below the average standard of living as it stands now. You would likewise be pig feed at this point. The king of the universe doesn't want to hear any complaining, remember?
