I always want to play Diplomacy, but I also know that you jerks are lazy.
The last diplo game failed because of you, madame. I remember the distinct lack of updateage.

I don't like Diplomacy unless it's face-to-face, because I'm 2-0-1 in F2F games and like 0-6-9 in online ones.

IOT seems to be developing/merging with diplo.. interesting to watch its development.

If people update more punctually, I might send my orders on time.

Just cut those who miss the dead line. Hear their cries of mercy and despair! They shall make that mistake only once!

Anyone have a better idea for restricting army size in an NES? Their comes a point when small nations like Suriname can only handle 1-2 divisions. I've been attempting to do the numbers thing, in my NES, and I used a spreadsheet before, but it was a pain in the ass attempting to copy everything over to the actual updated stats. There was a lot of mistakes/errors, etc.

Ideas?

What sort of upkeep cost then? Every 10 infantry divisions is 1 EP, type of thing?

Right. What would you use?

It's easier to manage than debt is for a mod, as you yourself should know from planning your ostensible late 19th century NES.

1 EP for 5 Active Divisions, 25 Reserves in peace
+ 1ep Cost per 5 Active Divisions, 10 active reserves in war
+ Discretionary during invasion

Well, I don't know. Looking at my stats, major nations like America, and the German Empire have about 50 EP. Minor nations, in terms of population size, and economic capability such as Aleyska, and Montenegro have about 3-4 EP, and small population.

I toyed around the idea of making each division cost 10 MP- that would cut down a lot of small nations. But at the same time, I have it so that 1MP = 10,000 people. If 1 Division = 10 MP, 1 Division would equal 100,000 people.

I'd go with manpower and letting people know that when they get low on manpower they are hurting their economy. So just have people run out of manpower if they build too much. Nations like China should have tons of manpower and plenty regaining each turn.

Okay. So should I go with the nonsensical 1 Division = 10 Manpower, and just drop the restrictions stat?

Do a spread sheet with links to a stats thing that you just copy-paste.

There is no point in reinventing the wheel:

I have attached a simple solution to this problem. It has worked very nicely for me over all my NESes. It takes a bit to get set up, but once that is done, it works beautifully. In the sample spreadsheets you see two tabs. One is labeled Ottoman and the other Middle East Africa.

On the Ottoman tab are the nation stats that I update. The values in the box on the left are automatically pulled from calculations further down on the sheet (Those rows are deleted in this demonstration file). The box on the right has formulas to "collect" the data from the individual cells on the same row, but in the box to the left. That information is collected into a single cell in the right hand box.

If you look at the ME & Africa tab, you will see that it pulls the information from the right hand box on the Ottoman tab and has the vB code around it for formatting.

In my stat model, the next nation in ME Africa is listed below the Ottomans. It is pulled from that nation's individual tab in the same manner. I collect 40 nation's information on to three sheets that I can copy and paste fully formatted into my stat post. The links mean that every time I make any change in a stat, it aromatically updates my master pages for posting.

Let me know if you have any questions.
