While We Wait: Part 2

Sounded like a mutilation of history, so I didn't watch it.

It was terrible. They made out Sparta to be a democracy and then made it into a "fight for democracy" propaganda film filled with slow-motion blood and melodramatic screams. There was no plot, just people killing each other for three quarters of the movie.

I had absolutely no problem with that. Although the historical inaccuracies did annoy me, I ignored it in favor of keeping me entertained with violence for two hours. The random rhino attack was strange though, I mean, what was up with that?

IMO 300 was awesome, as long as you didnt expect to find any sort of historical accuracy nor realism. When you forgot about those things, you can enjoy the movie to its fullest.

Christ, everytime someone thinks 300 was supposed to be based off of history, I kill a small child.

Under the friggen title, it says, BASED ON GRAPHIC NOVEL BY FRANK [something], not BASED ON THE BATTLE OF THERMOPLAYE, not BASED ON SPARTA IN 480 BC. The movie is obviously not correct, but not because it sucks, because it's not supposed to be.

I just took it for what it was, great entertaining mindless slaughter. And it was gooooood.

I'm aware that it was based on a mutilation of history, but that doesn't excuse it also being a mutilation of history. If it had been set in some fantasyland, then I really couldn't give a care either way, but using the name of Sparta and Persia is destroying the education of anyone who watches it. Do you think the average viewer will know the truth behind Sparta and Persia? Do you think the average viewer will even notice the fact that it's based off of a graphic novel and not real history? They won't.

What this does is makes them stupider, and if there is anything I detest in this world, it is something deliberately crafted to destroy knowledge.

Don't hate Fox News, it means well.....

Who gives a crap about the 'average' retards who think everything the movie shows is real. If you see them in real life, just tell them to look it up in a book.

+1 for showing off your knowledge and +1 for owning retards.

It's a win-win situation for intelligent people.

While I wait, I'd like to ask Isry what convinced him to mention the "blasphemous personality cult" in his user title.
While my opinions on the basic nature of Christianity as a blasphemous personality cult of Judaism are well known by you, I still have no problem with the modern evolution of mainstream and liberal Christianity per se. In particular, I am very fond of the Jesuits and the Ignatian ideology (minus the whole Christ business), in fact, I go to a Jesuit school (St. Ignatius College Prep, Chicago, Illinois)

Like the wonderfully historically correct movie King Arthur, that was promoted as "The true story behind the legend"...

the movie was......okay

It was more fantasy than the fairy tales of the Sword in the Stone though.

Throw me some titles for LuckNES III. Its going to be a world map fresh start using Israelite's ruleset from IsrNES05. And Civ Zones. Best fresh start to date! ((<----False Advertising))

If the average viewer believes all that he sees in movies without any sort of critisism, I daresay it's lost cause already and 300 will be merely a drop in that ocean.

Yes I understand your opinions NK, Isr and Cui, but movies are entertainment. I, at least, and many of my friends, dont go to movies to educate ourselves, we go for entertainment. And in that, 300 is fills its duty well.

While I somewhat agree, most people base their entire understanding of my religion off a single South Park episode.

...because South Park is TOTALLY accurate and all...

It depends on the situation. I just refuse to see 300 for a couple different reasons, lack of realism not being one.

To put it mildly, 300 was not entertaining either. A movie must have something other than people hacking each other apart to be entertaining. Though blood certainly does not prevent a movie from being entertaining, it does not make entertainment.

It really depends what you are looking for. And I agree, people hacking each other is not entertaining as it is, it becomes that when they make it look good ;)

I think we should drop this discussion of whether 300 was entertaining or not before it really starts, because that depends on people's own opinions. You either like seeing people to kill other people or then you dont.
