While We Wait: Part 2

Avatar switch solely for NESing would be good. Right now my things are on a member I have never seen before, on any forum. BUT if we switched on the NES forum it would have more of an effect. Also, im on the map, but im apathetic to it being restarted or not.

I dunno, it worked pretty well in your case. I saw you on the DisNES page having emphatically typed something about an alliance with Finland, and I was very confused. I thought it was me!

On that note, I've got enough to field a small army, should anyone care to be part of the Legion of Symphony. ;)

Thundercats, HO!

Props for that, as well as the Imperial Logo and C&C logos. I'd steal one, but alas, I'm taken ;)

I like em, but I would feel bad wearing an avatar someone has worn before.

Do you make these or just find them and color them blue?

So how are the updates coming along? :(

Mine's not going so well, getting bogged down in RL things.

I really have to simplify my NES... I remember when I could finish updates on a Saturday morning. Now they consume consecutive weekends.

 of course no word from Niklas

(Continued from BadNES preview thread)

Yes, but is that stream ever mentioned in a NES? Or does Mount Everest have any effect on gameplay?
Yes. Every little facet of geography can have a HUGE effect on battle tactics. However, that is beside the point. The point is that the complexity of it all is beyond a human created world, and it always will be no matter what. For a random map NES to have the same depth of complexity as an earth map NES the players, or at least the mod, would need the creativity of Tolkein and either 50 hours in a day or two months between updates, as well as no life whatsoever outside of NESing. As I have said before, while cradle NESes have many advantages (most important being the unlimited outlets for creativity) they fall short of fresh start NESes in some areas, namely depth and complexity (and, similarly, the wealth of information available to players to utilize). They are two different sorts of NESes with two somewhat different kinds of associated experiences.

You know Israelite, with your mapmaking skill and update style, you could probably pull off the first ancient-to-modern fresh start NES.

I guess it's all about time, but a good 3,000 to 4,000 post fresh start NES would really invigorate this forum. Right now we have a bunch of upstart NES's with only 1 real long one, and its rarely updated (but still updated nonetheless!). BirdNES should have more members than it does, it's excellent, but it almost feels like a "cult" nes right now.

We all have been pampered for a while with das nes', with him not modding for awhile there is a big vacuum IMO.

I know, but have patience, it will pick up when people start noticing the mod updates with regularity. ;)

Gahh, Mjm and azale switching avatars confused me for a while.

And did you just insult the goodness of bird's nes? *prepares to raise hell*

I think they called us cultists, Alex.

As to the argument between real world fresh starts and cradle NESes, I'm with Israelite here. I like the idea that if I put the thought in and check out geography when I plan my battles I can be rewarded. With cradle NESes, it seems like I'd be making **** up about someone else's nation if I tried to use geography. :p

Once again, I apologize profusely for the low speed of my updates. I'm going to have to cut the quality at some point.
