While We Wait: Part 2

I personally think you can't really portray a current teenager accurately without a dose of swearing. I don't know how it is in Vancouver, Toronto and as far north as you can get on the hand(NK;) ) but down here and up in Boston too, it seems that vulgarity has become the rule almost when having casual discourse, and thoughts on Sex are put more in that "keep it in your head and no where else" category.

Oh sure, some do. I personally don't do it very often, but I know some do.

and as far north as you can get on the hand(NK;) )

I'm not on the hand. You fail geography. :p

Up here in TO, swearing is the norm. So is sex talk. we are very open. really open. too open is some cases. like some guy i just met told me that when he was 14 he lost his virginity to a 22 year old. except it was true, I know the girl. but still, I just met him. If I had known him, or we had even been talking on that line, but it comes up randomly in the middle of nowhere. :?:

also, most people swear in different languages. I am fluent in 3 languages, can swear in 15-20. the joys of living in (one of the) most multicultural cities in the world.

Hebrew, German, Arabic, and Japanese are my favorite languages to swear in. French not so much. You either insult the church (sacred blue, etc.) or say things that are obscure or need to know french well. (ie the noun baiser means a kiss, but you must say donner un baiser a qqn to mean kiss someone, using baiser as a regular er verb makes it mean to f***)

Cursing in French is terrible because the language sounds so pretty!

Try it!

Merde!

As opposed to the S-bomb!

Sounds so nice, doesn't it?

zoot!

Tu as une plus petit noeud!

Va t'empaler encule

Je m'en branle!

Ta gueule!

Te branles!

Gouine

Pute

Tapes-toi une queue et va niquer ta mère espèce de connard qui se lèche le cul chaque matin en fumant des gauloises pour le petit-déjuner.

T'as une tête qui donnerait des cauchemars à Freddie Kruger

Those all, except the last one, would come out . ... ... .. . here. the last one I saw on a french swear word site, and made me rofl. It means "Your have a face that would give Freddy Kruger nightmares." The second last one is fitting everything vulgar into one long sentence. wow. they all sound too nice to be insulting. saying to someone 'te gwelle' doesnt make them want to slap you.

anyways, is it just me or do communist nations in NESes always become pariahs while fascist nations don't?

I've never noticed that, but there aren't as many fascists left today for people to know, thus, not as much of a negative emotional connection. Can you imagine how vilified you would be if you did something like this as the Mongols just after your entire nation was ravaged by barbarians? :p
Lack of computers aside.

unless you count 13 year old boys, or 70 year old men.

but that whole connotation thing does work.

havent been many fascists since WWII. lots of communists.

Ignoring the fact there's no clear definition for Fascism, the only truly Fascist governments were Franco's Spain and Mussolini's Italy (the Japanese were Imperialists and the Nazis were National Socialists) so there's relatively little to go by for them (and compared to the Nazis and the Communists neither was that terrible), and Fascism has just become a general epithet for anyone or anything a given person doesn't like, eg: "Ahmedinijad is a fascist!" "Bush is a fascist!" "Hilary is a fascist!" "Margaret Thatcher was a fascist!" "Kim Jong Il is a fascist!" and so on.

Portuguese Estado Novo was also Fascist, being just like Mussolini but with less state-sponsered violence.

The Iron Cross was also fascist, though their rule was very short lived.

As well, the fascist revolutionaries who were never in power, like Oswald Mosley, and a few others, greatly influenced peoples views on fascism. Recently it has become a buzzword that will get you out of argueing. Just like 'your problem is you need a hug'

Person A: You are wrong because 1)....2)...230495623)...
Person B: You're a fascist! Get away from me, Nazi! (completely ignores reasoning and considers him wrong because he is a fascist.)

Cursing in Hindi is fun:

Tere maki choot
Tere bap ka lund kah
Madhur chod
Sala kamine
Gaand me danda
Boseudillke
Bain chod
Sala cuthe

Continuing the LINES- World of Magic discussion for Dachs' NES:

@Cleric- The structure of The Way wouldn't have destroyed it, just resulted in it becoming sealed, trapping the remaining North Americans and dooming them. But Dis pulled a pretty massive withdrawal, I'm not sure you would have made it in time.

Tapes-toi une queue et va niquer ta mère espèce de connard qui se lèche le cul chaque matin en fumant des gauloises pour le petit-déjuner.

I tried translating in google and got this:

Tapes you a tail and goes niquer your mother sort of jerk who licks the bottom by smoking every morning of Gallic for the small déjuner.

Changing the topic away from cursing in foreign languages, what webcomics to NESers read?

I read:
Casey and Andy (directed there by a guy in CFC who I don't know)
Irregular Webcomic (directed there by Casey and Andy)
VGCats (shown by a friend)
Perry Bible Fellowship (heard about it from CFC)
Ctrl-Alt-Del (heard about it from CFC)
Penny Arcade (Sym quoted Tycho)
XKCD (heard about it from CFC)
El Goonish Shive (recommended by Erik and SS)
Turnsignals on a Land Raider (shown by a friend)
The Boids (directed there by Turnsignals)
The Wotch (directed there by El Goonish Shive)
Order of the Stick (heard about it from CFC)
Player vs Player (heard about it from all the references to it in other comics)
Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal (recommended by Thlayli)
Misfile (directed there from The Wotch)
Sluggy Freelance (das mentioned it, in the process of reading)

Hmm, way more than I thought, actually.

Vgcats and Order of the Stick.
I even bought Order of the stick in book format thats how lame I am. (buying something even though I can get it for free)
I've read some others but I got sick of em. I read one for toto's sig before it was sprite based and it actually had a ending instead of continuing on forever and forever which is annoying if the comic has a plot.
