While We Wait: Part 3

Nah, that's baseball. I've sadly been to more baseball games than football games (both kinds of football), and I'm pretty sure less happens in more time in baseball than in football.

Also, what's with the insistence on reviving a dead argument? Right now you're just sort of annoying me.

EDIT: @Dis - Indeed.

Wow exactly like me. I have been to more San Francisco Giants game then any other sports event. I HATE BASEBALL. It is so boring the only good thing is.. well no the food isnt even good for the price. ARGH!!!!! Football is America's pasttime. Im interested to hear from here if any of our Brits here went to the Giants Dolphins game.

Ah...the Dolphins failed this year. It's sort of ironic that they have one of the worst seasons in history while the Patriots broke their own previous undefeated record.

Never seen baseball, so it's the best nap I've had, at least.

Christ, take a pill  Just because I wrote slowly.

Two questions

@Dach, what is QFSE. A google search brings up a post in this thread....

@Iggy, what is Hockey?

It's not like my prime directive is "interpreting acronyms Dachspmg pulled out of his ass." :p

I really hope you're joking, because Tampa Bay beat Calgary in the Stanley Cup Finals in 03/04...

But in case you aren't:

Hockey is a sport played on ice. The players wear skates, carry 'sticks', thin pieces of wood or composite material ending with a flat, angled blade. They use their sticks to hit a 'puck', a small black disc, with the goal of putting it into the opposite team's net. There are 6 players from each of the two teams on the ice at any one time. There are three forwards, who are generally offensive, two defenders, who work to prevent the other team from scoring (though some of them score goals too), and one goaltender, who is heavily padded, and is the last line of defense (when I play hockey, I am a 'goalie').

The game is 60 minutes long, divided into three 20 minute periods. The clock stops counting down during stoppages of play.

The game originated in Canada in the 1800s, possibly based on the older sport of 'Lacrosse', which is descended from a First Nations game.

Notable Hockey Countries include Canada, Russia, the United States, Sweden, Finland, the Czech Republic, and Slovakia. There are a variety of players from other countries.

The NHL is the highest level of professional hockey. It has 30 teams, 6 in Canada and 24 in the United States. There are 2 Conferences, divided into three divisions each. A division has five teams. After playing an 82-game season, there is a playoff, with the division winners and the best 8 teams in each conference competing in a tournament. Each matchup includes seven games, the winner moves on, the loser is out. Eventually, the best team in the Western Conference and the best team in the Eastern Conference compete for the Stanley Cup, hockey's ultimate prize.

I am a fan of the Vancouver Canucks. j_eps is a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and I suspect that Canuck2 is a sympathizer also.

Here is a video.

To Summarize, Hockey is Awesome because:
It has a fast, physical pace.
It has flow.
It's played on ice, and ice is nice.

Any more questions?

Hockey!!! :D

Just to be a contrarian...

QFT.

Hockey is the best sport there is.
Football (American) comes second. Traitor, I know. I like some of our rules better, but 4 downs are much better than 3. though i like the single for touchbacks, provides an incentive to take a bad field position instead of an instant 20 and rewards a good kick.
Football is way too boring and slow, and seriously, who can sit for 90 minutes with a giant net for the final score being 1-0 or so? its nice to watch bits of, follow, and stuff, but i dont like going to games (and Toronto FC sucks).

and wow, lots of us cowboys fans here.

j_eps is a fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs

lets not get ahead of ourselves here. avs before leafs. ;).

if it were leafs first i would have no reason to detest certain teams...

and to repeat some previous things, curling isnt a sport, its the election system on the rock.

Curling is less active than some sports, but it's a sport nonetheless.

Heck, the definition is pretty loose. It's ridiculous what some people will refer to as sport sometimes (Texas Hold'em Poker?).

And seriously, detesting Vancouver for something a former star player of theirs did to someone whose family you know? I would be just as justified in hating the Avs for Steve Moore concussing Naslund.

Why don't we just join together in hating Detroit?

Ultimate Frizbee is the only true sport.

Where else is there a recognised play known as "The greatest"

I think you'll all find Australian Rules is the greatest form of footy on Earth.

Why? Well, none of us knows how it works, other than we get points for trying to score, and it gives us the opportunity to sprint up eachother's backs while wearing spikes, and there's no padding. What's not manly about that?

Your momma was awesome last night

I would like everyone who knows how hard Call of Duty 4 is on veteran to know I just got every achievement. :) You die faster than in real life.

ohhh good show, I remember I only had one acheivment to get but then the autosave was at a point where morters killed me when I reloaded (i.e. I couldn't beat it, just die), so I got irritated that I gave up and went to one of the more trenchy levels and shot everything, a lot.

COD4 is modern you must be referring to an older one.
