It's unusual for me to keep playing a game for so long. This is my first world
conquest liberation attempt, I'm determined to see it through. Its also fun with generals named after NESers, and I got to be creative with adding pictures and stuff
Good reasons for keeping something going.

I cant imagine playing a whole RTW campaign in one go! Did you skip all the micro-management etc? I usually find everything messing up and people dying horribly unless I take it slow...
I didn't skip MMing, but for me the RTW MMing is easier than the Civ MMing because it's mostly adjusting happiness and population growth instead of doing that PLUS managing every single tile you're working for maximum output. My usual strategy for RTW is to build mines (which are the really huge money-makers) and trade stuff early and often, so that adjusting the taxation rate doesn't kill your economy when you need to keep the people happy and you can't just add a garrison. And then of course in vanilla (and even patched RTW) you get the wonderful domino effect, wherein conquering speed speeds up as you get more cities to produce more armies which conquer more cities and so on. That's why I like mods like Roma Surrectum and Europa Barbarorum (and of course RTR to a lesser extent) - it takes forever to finally build the appropriate military structures in a given city, so you can't automatically switch to recruiting heavy units like Urban Cohorts and Royal Pikemen as soon as you seize new land. Also, the tactical element keeps me interested, because in most of the mods on Very Hard or so the enemy can actually come up with some neat stuff. I don't get so many 400 man armies beating 1400 man armies anymore (unless I play as Saka Rauka in EB, but that's a different story)

I must confess I don't know who justokre is.
I dimly remember him being around a lot at about the same time as NES2 VI, but I can't for the life of me remember what he played or how good he was either.

Not that I actually understand what any of this is about
I'm a bit vague on that too, but apparently the objective is to get a bunch of people together so that the teams are about of equal total skill level (if you gave everyone a number).
I would actually call these six teams "overbalanced:"
How do you mean - stronger, weaker, obvious that there was a semiconscious effort to keep teams from having two or more players with an insane amount of skill on them...?
Being honest, I can see why I was paired up with Thlayli.
Because it's the sort of thing that I found amusing at 3:30 in the morning in a Vanilla Coke-fueled zombie state?

I'm more curious to find out why D'Artagnan was paired with us. I can't remember ever speaking to the person, and as far as I know neither has Thy.
Wasn't for any particular perceived communications rapport or previous work experience. I only remember talking to Daniel Khan from being his mod for three updates in DaNES, and Perfy was just my neighbor in AFSNES - aside from some extremely primitive, low-level plotting on my part, involving funding, we didn't really work together.

In addition, considering that Symphony asked for comparisions based upon skill level, I'm curious to what Dachs was trying to exactly say by pairing us up, then suddenly throwing a random third person in.
My understanding wasn't that everybody on the same team had to be of roughly equivalent skill level, but that the team as a whole was supposed to be about equal to the other teams. So usually what I'd do was try to balance older or more skilled players with the newer members.

You're too sexy for Azale?
We have enough people in different timezones to keep it active at all times, which could do a lot to alleviate the boredom I'm sure a lot of NESers feel while the boards are slow.
Now that I finally have a computer of my very own, I now actually can use IRC. So I'll be on a lot more...like right now...when nobody else is on but Chieftess...
Re: the people who aren't here anymore - I was going off of the NESer Census, which is old enough to be somewhat defunct I guess. I'll probably edit the list soon.
