While We Wait: Part 5

Arguably the French culture as it stands now at the very least goes very well with its awful economic model. ;)

Having everything handed to you breeds corruption, decadence, and weakness, yes. That's a general lesson of the human experience. Is this supposed to be news, or something? :p Well, to Europeans, maybe... :mischief:

Self-sufficiency will always come at the price of some hardship and tribulation, just like freedom always comes with eternal vigilance against tyranny. You want to make somebody appreciate something, deprive them of it (P.S. this is why European keening against the United States now and then stems from more than just a little envy).

Having everything handed to you breeds corruption, decadence, and weakness, yes.

I was actually talking more about this manifold decadence helping perpetuate the welfare state and discouraging any reforms.

I was just giving Thlayli a less direct Captain Obvious Award.

I just hate France. Nope, correct that. Some French attitudes. As in French people suggesting French should be used as an official European main languange. Or French people thinking that their nation has the most brilliant culture. Or French people thinking that their food is the most delicious in the world. Please, their accomplishments are merely considered great because they eat icky things.

No offense to any French people in here (Thlayli). Except, of course, if they are extreme French nationalist. Please, France was not a major power during World War II. Get over it.

I feel the same way about some Danes in my own nation, so don't take it personally.

France isn't all that bad. I think the ultranationalists on this forum in particular give France, Germany, Poland, and (of course) the US a bad name.

Speaking of ultranationalism, how bout USA 87 China 54 with 4:39 in the fourth. Daaaang son.

My laugh of the day - During the US 101- 70 win over China, the announcer mentioned the United States next matchup against Angola saying "And while that may seem like a big mis-match on paper, but-, but-, and there's Yao with a lay up!"

Wait, is Thlayli even French?

Do we have\have we ever had any French people here who are actually French (and not Vietnamese)?

Not that I know/knew of. We should initiate an affirmative action program on the basis of quotas: each NES must have at least two players of French ethnicity or citizenship. :p

a certain deranged ursine Oriental.
Now, now, I suppose it might appear that way to a unique mind such as yours, but to the rest of his he was quite sane, if rather power-hungry. :p
