While We Wait: Part 5

<snip> I think that many Americans, however, would object to people from other countries telling them how to vote. It's kind of an interference that most of us resent, no matter how hypocritical it is. :p Not that people from other countries aren't entitled to their opinions - they are, obviously - but I think that a lot of people would get pissed at said other opinions being foisted upon them.

Of course, I would resent also if people from Zimbabwe or China "told" us who we should elect... But such a landslide, it gets you thinking.

Alternatively, and I am not taking a position here, it might mean that something is definitely wrong with the world and its perception of America and American politics. :p

Well, more and more, the American election is turning into a major world event. Why ? Because as leaders of the western world, Americans also have a duty towards the rest of the world.

The rest of the world isn't looking out for America's future. Only we americans are. This should be the reason you DON'T want Obama to be in office. Because he is obviously good for the rest of the world, which isn't always good for america. They're the low men on the totem pole, wanting to rise up. We're the high men on the totem pole, who need to stay there. We should never, in my oppinion, base our election on what the rest of the world thinks... They don't care about us.

First of all, we care about you nearly as much as we care about ourselves, for reasons stated above. And of course you shouldn't base your election on the opinion of the rest of the world. But wouldn't it be nice if, by coincidence, we shared the same opinion ?

It's in many of our interests that the US does well, and the US probably will do better if its elected government can hold the support of people throughout the world.

QFT

If world politics was a zero sum game, then the world's support of Obama would be an extremely compelling reason not to vote for him. Of course, the world is not a zero sum game, and it's getting farther from being one all the time, but it's important to point out that oftentimes the best thing for America is not the best thing for the world as a whole. I still don't prefer McCain to Obama, but I seem to have to keep pointing out that the reasons most often cited for Obama's supremecy aren't the most compelling ones. :p

Granted, I guess the reason Obama gets so much support everywhere is because he is the antithesis of McCain/Bush. It's not that the world supports Obama, it's more that they're against McCain.

So what about a new Warhammer40K NES? Doesn't have to be space-based, could be on one planet...

I don't now about having it on one planet. With all of the insane stuff that happens in the 40k universe that planet will probably not last long. You'd have to find a way for space ships to be taken out of the equation as well as make sure some of the races are not overpowered.

I'd say it would be easier to run a Warhammer NES because it is just on one planet and non of the powers are set to take it over. Warhammer also has a ton of interesting cultures and races.

If you'd like to do a 40k NES, perhaps you could just have the premise be that each of the races sent a colony simultaneously to said planet. Play it as a fresh start, but obviously with 40k technology, and allow the players no access to their race outside the planet.

See Fulton's Warhammer 40k NES for a higher level variety. Though you probably already saw it.

Thats my idea - Like the Dawn of War games. A brand new campaign just for the NES...

I was interested in those 2, ass well... Or chaos.

I'm just in thinking of if to do the game...

Then I'll speak of races...

All in All, you will msot likely control an army in the game rather then a country/empire. Would be easier that way... That way you will also actually be on the battle...

I guess my first pick would be Tau, second Chaos, third Orks.

But if we're just going to have an army I'm not interested, as there's no incentive to waste your forces against another foe other than to knock him out, after which you'll be weakened and get knocked out by the next player.... It wreaks all the way around, if you ask me. You HAVE to have empires, in order to make it work... Either that, or just have a 2 player battle. (Or multiple players, on 2 sides)

No no. It will be a NES. Like any other NES, with a map and all. It won't be exactly army vs. army. And I intend it to be more story based...

Nuclear kid, I hereby order you to cease and desist your ridiculous spam on my MSN. Failure to comply will result in official censure.

American politics sucks, its a dictatorship of two parties, with the myriad ways and arcane laws to prevent any other party from gaining a remote possibility.

Can we STOP talking about this crap, and move onto something that actually interests the 60% of nesers who DONT live in the American dictatorship.

Have the planet enveloped in warp storms breaking outside contact. You could also have a world that is in the stages of a war or not.

That conversation stopped some time ago. Thanks for attempting to revive it. ;)

As for your '60%' number...total falsification?

Anyone knows 92% of ALL statistics are made up! :p

Yeah fair enough, looks good, I still like Shogun, but then again I am becoming more and more old school.
