While We Wait: Part 6

Actually it was the phrase coined by Arthur Conolly, the man who was shot before the palace of the Khan of which Central Asian city?

Hmm, there are only two in this period of import, so I've got fifty-fifty chance...Bukhara. :p

Correct, however your eminently silly qualifier means you actually neg. Samarkand, Bukhara, Merv, Kashgar are the biggies. :p

I know most of the forum is unmarried males. I thought it was important to pass on this advice to their future wives.

This =s Death.

I hope it was intended as humorous :p.

Except in the 19th century, Marakanda, Antiocheia-Margiane, and Sulek didn't have their own khanates; Bukhara, Khiva, and Kokand (the last of these being relatively unimportant and thus eliminatable) had Khans, and you mentioned a khan.

I didn't say your reasoning was incorrect, I said saying there were only two important Asian cities (with or without Khans) was incorrect. And for Christ's sake, use names I can actually recognize on sight. Marakanda? That's just obnoxious. :p

Who said anything about "cities"? I failed to state what "two" there were; don't strawman me here dude.

As for "names you can actually recognize on sight", well, that was just to be obnoxious because you called me on something that's not actually wrong. :p

I actually once got a bonus on Tashkent, Samarkand, and Bukhara. That was very nice, especially since I had just done Central Asia in a 1900 map for some odd reason.

Might be helpful, I suppose, but join date works just as well. I wasn't in LINES or LINES II, two of the apparently iconic NESes of the past few years, despite being a member of the Fifth Generation.

Ah neither was I, but thats beside the point. First of all I didnt bring it up, I just stated I was against any revision of the generation system that was agreed to by consensus some years ago

I am also not asking you to pay attention to it, nor am I asking you to use it for your own opinions.... I was merely stating mine that the generational system (for those who still wish to use it) should not be changed (eg. first generation should not be expanded).... it is however there, its in the neswiki that was formed about three years ago, so its legitmate for people to use it.

Honestly I dont think this would of become an issue, if it were not for the fact that I have 'Neser of the first generaton' in my signature. But as already stated I do wear this as a badge of honour, not many people who are still active can claim this, (emu, Warman, EQ, Jason would be the others I have seen) and its simpler than listing my nesing achievements which I assure you I am most proud of.... it is just too long to list ALL of it....

Oh and before we start getting into a discussion of achievements, many of them might not seem like major achievements to you, but its more about attaining the goals I set myself in any nes that I join.... I dont believe you can win a nes per se but you can achieve goals.

If I had to pin point it down to it the top 3 nations I have had the pleasure of nesing would be:

Egypt in stjnes4
Punic Empire in ITNES (which is due to the wars against multiple peoples are still managing to win most of the time..... Dasch you will always have my respect from that nes alone)
and the United Islamic Republics in Goobnes... (Stormbinger must of hated me for ages after that nes :P)

I know most of the forum is unmarried males. I thought it was important to pass on this advice to their future wives.

I showed my wife that...... her response I cannot repeat here

Lmao! I can't believe that was actually printed! You would not be able to get away with that nowadays...

Did you see the date it was printed, 1955.....

I think I'm missing something here.

I'm second generation, I wasn't around for the first neses or when board neses when popular (I think I lurked during the last one Jason's colonial nes) and I missed RTOR2

Putting "there are only two of import" right after a question ending with "which Central Asian city" seems fairly clear to me. :p

We're Quiz Bowl nerds, everything gets turned into trivia at some point.
