While We Wait: The Next Generation

Uggor: Massive infantry armies and elephants make up most of their forces. Krato in particular has had a habit of picking on the weak countries around it.

Technically the Moti are somewhat more quality+tactics over quantity, partly because North King forgot to make our population grow for a century or so. The whole godlikes-humans thing works a lot like spartiates-helots, if you get what I'm hinting at. :p

Yes, yes, and I'm Persia...how many times has THAT particular metaphor been played out? :p

Anyways, Ninja, the old Satar forces were exclusively cavalry. The armies are now transitioning into a mixed noble cavalry force with steppe auxiliaries, and masses of conscript slave infantry. Expect to see more siege and a core of bodyguards/elites (the Argai) around the High Prince playing a greater role.

Yeah, I do expect to see sieges and your Prince. And I must say it will be fun to watch how things play out.

Krato used to have a kind of quality-over-quantity army. Now it's shifted more to am overwhelming force policy, completely swamping an opponent and surrounding them, using their fear to our advantage. Also, earlier Kratoan military units were often comprised of relatives, encouraging soldiers to fight hard and protect one another. However, with my recent....workings, this is likely going to fade away, as you can be closely related to only so many people. :mischief:

Tvtropes is a deathtrap, I'm stuck there again.

Hopefully you only attacked the Algoli...it would go ill if you were to attempt to push further than that. All that I can say is, other nations have the money to raise militia in the thousands. The Satar have the money to raise militia AND professional soldiers by the thousands.

It all depends on how much you care about the Moti, though annexing them was never a goal of mine in the first place... :p

Well, we'll just have to see. :mischief: I am acting in character for an Uggor country though. Moti and Krato are closely tied, and it would of course be important for Krato to support them. Of course, Krato has a bone to pick with the Satar too. But mainly the Kratoans hate Algoli, seeing it as a cheap knock-off of the Satar and undeserving of the land it has.

I will say that Algoli will likely be destroyed, or at least completely occupied by me at some point in the update.

Well, I seem to recall you groveling at the feet of Atraxes and asking him to leave you in peace, which he did.

In character, we implicitly accept that Krato must fight the Algoli, logistics and tactics of sending militia into the steppe to fight nomadic cavalry aside. Just as the Satar could be expected to send minor aid to the Algoli, the Kratoans could be expected to send minor aid to the Moti.

However, escalation of the attack onto Satar lands would be met with harsh reprisals. There is only one route into said lands, and it is heavily guarded.

Was Atraxes the Second Prince or is he the Third one? The Second was actually fairly well respected in Kratoan society, besting them in combat and giving us our first major loss. However, the Third is.... mildly disliked by alot of the country. :p

WARNING

The Mibbit, java, and likely other public clients that would allow one to connect to #NES have been compromised by a virus. Proof:

+BananaLee (3cea8aa2@d0a9903.6b45bb2.mibbit.com) Quit (Autokilled: Infected with: Exploitna9a9a9991 (See http://secure.irc-chat.net/info.php?viri=Exploitna9a9a9991 for more info))

That link takes you to here: http://secure.irc-chat.net/info.php?viri=Exploitna9a9a9991

Which says:

Spoiler :
If you have been directed to this page after being banned or warned by a IRC network that you are infected with a IRC Virus or Trojan, this page will attempt to give you some details about why you were banned, and what you can do to fix it.

The IRC network you were on is using some software to help identify and ban or warn users of problems with their IRC client. The purpose of this is to help make IRC much more secure and bring the Fun back to chatting. For some reason (as detailed below) your IRC client has been detected as containing a virus or is a trojan/drone, and this has brought you here.

Please read the description below for more information on your specific problem.

Virus Name: Exploitna9a9a9991
Short Description: It appears that you are infected with a virus.

Complete Information: It appears that you are infected with a virus. You should scan your PC with a Virus Scanner, and if you are not infected, you should use Meaningfull, non-repeating characters for your nickname.

I advise you guys to download mIRC, it's free and is not a humongous program. :) It will ask you to register your software after a number of days, but it's just nagware and your never forced to pay.

I would like to supplement Azale's discovery with the sober reminder that no IRC connection is secure which is Java-based. Meebit is dressed up nice but it is not much more than a step up above Java clients, and I have reason to believe that it was not just our Meebit client that was infected. At first I believed someone from these forums caused the infection, but much more realistically (since Meebits are hosted from a core) the mainframe was infected and it filtered down.

The result is anyone connecting through Meebit to #nes within the past twenty-four hours is in danger of viral infection.

I highly recommend anyone who connected through Meebit recently to scan their PC and clear their cache/cookies. This unfortunate event has compromised the security of two NESers *at least* and many others, and is unacceptable.

To those concerned who still wish to chat on #nes (even though I know Meebit was very convenient), mIRC is available and free. Moreover, mIRC is nearly airtight: I haven't heard of an infection over mIRC in quite some time (you need to be very irresponsible to let it happen, such as opening file connections with random fellows). Security-wise it is optimal.

once mIRC is loaded, how do I get to NES chat?

ACCESS #NES VIA MIRC CHAT

1. Open up mIRC once it is installed. http://www.mirc.com
2. Open up your options window (should be under file) and go to the Connections tab on the left.
3. Add a connection to the list. Name can be anything (just call it NES), but the address and port are important.

Address: irc.irc-chat.net
Port: 7000

4. Now select your new connection and alter any other settings you want. Click Connect to connect, or exit out of the options window and click the lightning bolt in the upper left to connect.
5. Now type /join #nes or, if a window pops up, type #nes into the "Join a channel" window.
6. Voila.

I couldn't get it to work. I wound up in some very strange chat groups, but no NESing. i will try again tomorrow.

Public Service Announcement

The Mibbit chat-link to #nes has been confirmed clean, and some research on my part shows that the problem came from Mibbit HQ proper, as I suspected.

Now there's no telling when/if this will happen again, so my personal recommendation (for those desiring to connect to #nes) remains to use mIRC (my own instructions I know to be poor but there are tutorials on the net). In that case this is the information you need:

Server: irc.irc-chat.net
Port: 6664
Room: #nes

So to recap, Mibbit is OK for use, but is still not a secure connection. Thank you for your time.

See, NEB1 made me all Sprite oriented and amazed. I would be delighted to ask anyone if they had any sprites so that I could play with them for no reason whatsoever.

I am especially interested in Fire Emblem sprites. Anyone know about any source which downloads me all sprites from Fire Emblem GBA? :p

@lord_joakim, I've just been on the Spriters Resource site a while ago, I went back and did a search for Fire Emblem, and seems they have some stuff for various FE games.

But I think there's whole sites devoted to Fire Emblem graphics and stuff, I seem to recall from one of my epic sessions of downloading random sprites and stuff :)

Yes, I have seen one of the other pages - the problem is, though, that Fire Emblem has about 50 various battle animations or more, and I'd like to have each one downloaded. However, the stupid spriters never seem to figure out simply Zipping their work, allowing for multiple download. :p I want to figure out a way to get the whole package instead of having to search for each individual sprite. Otherwise, it's a lot of clicks.

Google the sprite sheets. They usually have all the sprites or all the animations frame by frame.
