If only chat actually worked.

It works, but Mibbit chat client might have problems...

Man up and get mIRC. The ability to run the chat in the background is invaluable.

there's quite a number of people on.

But one tip about the crappy Mibbit client. If it says can't resolve thingie, just refresh and try again - it's never not-worked three times in a row on me before.

In my experience mIRC often fails to connect the first time (server 7001 or something?) I just disconnect and try again. So far, for me, its never failed the second time.

I plan on doing a Command style NES, since I really do not want to do the hassle of the other parts of running an NES... namely, the finances and tech trees and other sections.

I already have 3 players who said they would be interested so I am hoping for a few more....

It will be a Civil War one, with the Western Theatre possibly open... depending on how many players sign up.

Yes, you will get to fight the Indians.

I know these are not known for its consistency but with my preference towards a war oriented NES and keeping away from the hassles of economy I feel I can make this succeed. I have extensive knowledge of the Civil War and the Indian Wars so there will always be full and fun updates.

The rules should be ready in a few days... so please acknowledge that you will play.

If 8 gives their time to this then I will open it when the rules are ready. Otherwise I will not start it.

Players shown Interest:
Masada
Bananalee
Thlayli

@germanicus: kinda interested, want to see how you work ruleset in comparison to mine and crezth's coming NES on the same veins.

Rough Rule Set for my Civil War Commander NES...

Each player will assume command of a General for either the Union or the Rebels (Patriots), with the possibility of commanding a cavalry force in the Western Frontier. Please note that if you are a commander of either Union or Rebel forces, you cannot command a cavalry force in the West. (Especially true for the Rebel Commanders)

Stats will be detailed as follows:
Character Name:
Rank:
Commanders under his command:
Units under his direct command:
Unit 1:
Unit 2:
ETC....

Character Name is the name of your character, this can be fictional or historical. But I want the name to be true to the culture of your region. Also a brief background would be appreciated if it is fictional so I can see what kind of history this character has and how he got to such a high rank.

Rank is the rank of your character, all characters will be Generals, but only one will be a Supreme commander for their respective armies. If you are a General in the Western Frontier, you answer to the Commander of all Union armies. Some ranks are as follows:
Brigadier General
Lieutenant General
Major General
ETC....

Commanders under your command
basically shows who you have under your immediate command, if you are a Supreme Commander, this will show all commanders fighting for your army. Otherwise, you could be in charge of a specific region, such as the Mississippi River and have 1 or 2 other Generals in the same region, usually the General with the higher rank will assume command, but the Supreme Commander has complete authority over his appointments. So you do not want to get on his bad side if you are one of those few.

Units are the divisions or Brigades you have under your command, these will be extremely detailed and will show you morale, accuracy, weapon, experience, numbers, and many other details. A commander is always welcome to PM me if he desires more info that is not covered in the initial description. A sample Unit stat will look similar to this:
New York 15th Regiment (Union)
550 men
Springfield (35 rounds per man)
Seasoned troops
High Morale
(if this regiment is known for their crack shots, this regiment would have the Sharpshooters, otherwise, it will be left blank)
Currently on the march from Washington to Manassas Gap.

Updates will occur as soon as the Supreme commanders and the majority of their subordinates get their orders in. Once two commanders engage, I will focus on the hotspot and expect only the two General's orders, and none other. (unless a reinforcing unit is not far, then that unit commander should send a PM to me informing me that they will send reinforcements.)

This is the rough basis, if there is more support the rules will be more refined and filled out. Please, if you think I forgot something let me know.

It is there, I just put it here too so everyone knows about it. ;)
