To be fair, with the many crimes that our NESers write about that would undoubtedly be banned by the Geneva conventions. After all, we have people in the Bronze Ages starting holy wars and practicing large scale slash and burn and blitzkrieg warfare, which leaves more than a few corpses behind. Genocide is probably low on the scale in terms of devastation that some people like to create.

Generally speaking, attempting genocide in real life has rather negative consequences, like ending up in a court at the Hague for crimes against humanity and such followed by long stints of being imprisoned. Not to mention doing it single handedly is rather impossible to do.

It is pretty much impossible, period. It is very difficult to track down and kill everyone who belongs to a certain people.

Thing is though, a regular criminal is more likely to escape; now a man who just systematically slaughtered millions of people in the name of a farfetched cause is more likely to be hunted down and deemed a target for many others. And yeah, genocide is very impractical as a means of extermination without absolutely obliterating everything.

I suppose. My point is that there are bigger reasons. It's a very impractical thing to do and quite unnecessary from the standpoint of most ideologies in most situations. Even if you absolutely must neutralise some meddlesome ethnicity as a factor, there are far better ways of getting that result.
