LMAO
Yeah, but if you want flavor in beer, you need to invest in higher quality. This generally means less beer overall, ie a 6- or 12-pack versus 24+, and it does take some getting used to, but beer is incredibly flavorful.
Yeah, I've sullenly begun to dig into my pockets for 6/12 packs in exchange for better beers. I've just started to relegate my beer consumption time as "let me sip this beer and update a NES/read a book/chat with my girlfriend/whip up a map." Much more relaxing, sad it took me so long to do.
IDK, I like Coffee stouts alot. (Admittedly, my point of view is heavily biased towards Canadian, most especially Quebecois Beers.)
What are you guys's thoughts on Fruit Beers?
Good God, I hate coffee stouts. They're too thick. Normally I love stouts (and all heavy-ish beers, in fact), but jesus coffee brews are so rich it chokes you. I love fruit beers, though. I had a raspberry ale the other day and it was crazymad delicious.
Funny aside, long, but bear with it:
When I first got to college some three years ago (graduating senior now) I did not drink. I had done a crap ton of cocaine in high school, and as a result boozed pretty hard as well. I purposefully chose my current college because it was far away from a city, and thus denied me the opportunity to have any kind of nightlife (I hate myself a bit for this, but I'll have the rest of my 20's to do... remarkably tamer things when I compare them to my highschool days; no joke, I've witnessed an orgy).
I chose not to drink, though all of my friends/hallmates did, and by the end of the year I was fed up with it and drank a bunch of coffee stouts that my friends/hallmates had gotten in a case. It was nasty, so nasty in fact that I downed maybe a tenth of a handle of Vladimir vodka (if you know this vodka, you know this goddamned evil vodka

) to get the taste out, cause hate Vlady all you want, it is tongue numbing enough to cleanse a palette. Needless to say a couple hours later my roommate found me wandering all around the coed dorm calling out his name while I was entirely naked but for an overcoat. Apparently I had vomited everywhere and felt like I should clean it up, but needed him to help me for whatever reason.
Great guy that he is—and I still think this despite the fact that his girlfriend (fiance now, I guess) wedged us apart some years later—took me back to my room, tucked me in, and cleaned up the vomit (that was everywhere), all the while with a smile on his face. I woke up later, though, with this sharp pain in my arm.
When I was a kid I used to get these weirdly acute shooting pains up my arm randomly at night. Even though the vast majority of my mum's 8 sisters are doctors/nurses none of them could figure it out so I just had to deal with it. The pains stopped eventually, but lasted long enough that at first I did not find my arm-pain that night all that concerning. My roommate had left the light on (an agreement of ours; should one of us be so wasted that the other has to take care of them then the lights will be left on in case we need to grab something in an emergency/stop the other from dying) so I saw that my arm was absolutely freaking covered in blood.
While drunk I guess I thought it would be a good idea to smash all the stout bottles out of a desire to exact revenge on all alcohol ever, and what was stupider I put all the broken glass under my covers and shoved the glass shards to the far side of the bed to hide the mess after I realized what I had done was stupid (or not stupid enough, as it turned out) and a crappy way to repay my friends for sharing their (admittedly gross) alcohol.
The glass had gotten in
deep, like down to the bone deep or something equally crappy. I yelled a lot and my roommate, who was in the hall I guess, rushed in and saw my blood soaked sheets (my bed was close to the door; the room had a weird setup). He freaked out and pulled me out of the bed (I guess I was in too much shock or something to do it), but he didn't know that there was glass in the bed/my arm and as he pulled the glass cut in even deeper and my arm came right off.
