Who is the King of Furry media? You can use specific characters, or entire franchises.

A "furry" here will refer to a humanoid animal, for the purposes of discussion. This includes things that technically don't have fur, such as birds and reptiles. See my examples for what I mean.

Edit: Also, things that would be popularly perceived as an animal. Not things such as flatworms or amoeba. Preemptively adding this due to posts taking my terminology literally in the Furry thread.

Be as opinionated or objective as you want.

Note: Do not post nonconstructive and flaming/trolling comments such as "furries suck" or "I don't like furry games." They will be reported for spam/trolling/the relevant offense. If you're not going to contribute to the topic, go elsewhere.

My personal favorites:

Franchises

1. Sonic the Hedgehog(obvious) - Grew up with this and ever since 2001, I've been a firm fan. Sonic is also probably by far the most recognised animal character, aside from maybe Mickey Mouse. Since Unleashed, his gameplay has also enormously improved as he's been given the quality Classic types have been bawwwing about since the Dreamcast.

2. Crash Bandicoot - Played Warped as a kid, but got a large collection of them recently and have found myself hooked. The gameplay has gotten worse in recent games(I want mah crates!), but that's the trend with nearly all franchises.

3. Onmyou Taisenki - While not technically "furry" as a whole, half the cast is furry. I find it much more fun than Digimon, but I'm saddened it never made it to America. I've watched all 52 episodes with subtitles. I wholly protest that Digimon is in its fifth season while Onmyou Taisenki has been left to gather dust.

Characters

1. Shadow the Hedgehog. Oh yeah baby. :goodjob: I liked him best in his first appearance. Evil. Rawr. >:3

2. Sonic the Hedgehog. Having given birth to Shadow in some bizarre male pregnancy, he's also fairly high up, being responsible for it all. He is also cool in his own way.

3. King Kazma. From Summer Wars, he's basically the Energizer Bunny after doing too many batteries.

4. Kogenta the White Tiger. The real main character of Onmyou Taisenki. Riku could fall off a cliff and this kitty'd keep the series going as if nothing happened. You know you fail when your secondary character is better than the main one.

5. Scourge the Hedgehog. Has taken Shadow's place as the "Evil double" and serves to be everything Sonic is not to the millionth degree.

6. Crunch Bandicoot. Without getting into the perverted side of things, he has several streaks of awesome ready to be exploited. Unfortunately, he is now voiced like Mr. T, and so has fallen out of favor. He furthermore gets almost no screen time.

7. Crash Bandicoot. While his games have endeared themselves to me, he kind of hasn't. I blame the low intelligence, annoying voice, and completely disgusting habits. Who farts with their armpit, honestly? He may be one of the few characters where Old School fans are not crazy with their demands of "he should not talk! WRYY!"

Am i the only one who noticed hedgehogs don't have furs ?

Sorry, but the OP doesn't say furries have to necessarily have fur. Odd I know, but it's better than "featheries" and "scalies."

Please contribute something next time you post. Don't you have anything furry that you like? :)

Spoiler :
I can't wait until those "amoeba" and "flatworm" people show up...

I would have thought the Disney company or Don Bluth would be the king of furry media.

In the eyes of non-furries, certainly.

Many people inside the fandom don't seem to like them that much... "Disney is Satan" and all that.

There is no such thing as furry media. So no one is its king.

There is no such thing as furry media.

Sonic.

Klonoa.

Crash Bandicoot.

Spyro.

Sly Cooper.

Disney.

Onmyou Taisenki.

StarFox.

Need I go on?

Let me get this straight: you're asking people what their favourite anthropomorphic animal cartoon characters are. I have to say I find it hard to see how this really fits the remit of the forum and indeed what the point of it is.

Also:

In the eyes of non-furries, certainly.

But you said -

Given that "furries" as you define them here are fictional, everyone and everything is a "non-furry", so I don't understand your point to Chukchi Husky.

If your asking who is my favourite talking animal cartoon, then my vote would have to go To Brian. A talking smart mouthed alcoholic dog, what else would you want from a cartoon dog? Perhaps my second favourite would be Scooby Doo. I want a Scooby snack.

this doesn't count, right?

it's Ariele btw.

Well jeez, I always liked the Angry Beavers but I can't say I ever yiffed to them or anything.

Well, it does qualify as entertainment, so I figured it might go well here, since it's broader than just videogames.

But if there is a better forum for it, of course feel free to move it. :) Perhaps Off-Topic?

I think the confusion comes from the fact "furry" has multiple usages.

Furry can mean:

1. A person interested in cartoon animals, i.e. a member of the furry fandom
2. A cartoon animal itself

When I said "non-furry", I meant people who were not members of the furry fandom, and when I said furry, I meant the cartoon animals.

My apologies for any confusion. I admit I could have worded it better...

If your asking who is my favourite talking animal cartoon, then my vote would have to go To Brian. A talking smart mouthed alcoholic dog, what else would you want from a cartoon dog? Perhaps my second favourite would be Scooby Doo. I want a Scooby snack.

How could I ever forget about these two, two American cartoon heroes - one for children and one for teenangers and adults.

Very good choices. I know my mother doesn't always like Brian however, since he can often get political. I myself just don't think too much about it.

I also appreciate your serious reply. :)

Spyro's a dragon. How in the world does that constitute a furry?

"Furry" is commonly used to encompass reptiles and birds and such, even if they don't have fur. Though technically, they're called "scalies" and "featheries" respectively, there are plenty of them in the furry fandom.

I know, these terms aren't exactly the most fun and can be mixed quite a bit.

Earthworm Jim.

I've never encountered him, but I have heard many great things about him from my friends. Well, friend, at least. Since he's quite fond of classic gaming, he of course liked those.

this doesn't count, right?

...No. :p

Perhaps if she was an anthropomorphic fish...

I have seen them before, and I'm not talking reverse mermaid. Actual freaking anthro fish.

Well jeez, I always liked the Angry Beavers but I can't say I ever yiffed to them or anything.

You don't have to "yiff" to something to like it. This world would be very disturbing if that was indeed the case. (I don't feel like going on about separating sexuality and furryness, never mind it can get inappropriate very fast)

I remember seeing their shenanigans quite a bit as a child. :)

Beast Boy from Teen Titans

:goodjob: Indeed, he is some bizarre mixture between human and furry. I like him, however, and he indeed my favorite of the five.

...Unsurprisingly. Man. I'm a one-trick foxy. :undecide:

With all the talk of Disney. What about Warner Brothers and other animators? One cannot deny the other side of the Classics with Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck as well as others. Mickey Mouse most certainly did not dominate the entire animation industry in regards to the subject of anthropomorphic animals in animation.

With the Kings of Furry media, I tend to go back to the Golden Age of American animation and the television era between the 1930s well into the early 1960s. So this would quite make this thread stick to the Entertainment and Arts since I am drawing from the classics from the Silent Era (Felix the Cat) to the notable ones from the Golden era and TV era of the 50s & 60s. I blame watching syndicated reruns of these shows on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network when I was younger :p ;).

Some more from that era:

Honors goes to the oldest one, Felix the Cat who got his start in 1919.

I'm sure there were other characters other than Hanna-Barbera, MGM, Warner Bros., and Disney from that era.
