Glad you like it! We (the RifE team) are planning to start a kind of 'Developer's Diary' blog, describing what we're working on and what it'll be for. Probably won't be out until after 1.3... We're also working on a Wiki, same timeframe.

Well, that's how it started. But honestly, I'm currently going to school for a Comp Sci degree, hoping to get a job in a game studio... So this is also me trying to get some experience over other fresh applicants. Even if it's just a mod, I can show how many people have downloaded it, the kind of work we've done (though it's not all mine, so I can't say that ), and experience running a development team.... All very good things indeed.

I have been addicted to civ for a looong time, and played every version so far.
I am dedicated to the turn based concept.

Anyway, now that I tried FFH2 (and its modmods), I don't see how I could come back to vanilla Civ.

The diversity of civilization is a great plus, it is not cosmetic, and this was done without sacrifying balance.
I play every civilization for a while, then going to another, trying to use its specificities at their best and each time I tell to myself : "The problem is : this civ really is overpowered". It tell a lot.
And my playstyle is sure different each time : Clan of embers growth and endless armies, Sidar's specialists, Malakim sun adepts, etc...


I'm far from having tried every civ, but it means I still have monthes and monthes of play forward..

You didn't. It is Luchuirp. Don't worry too much though, this is one name that used to be frequently misspelled even in the civilopedia.

well I played the Luchuirp effectively, and won a cultural victory. It was tough, I probably could have onw a conquest victory or a domination victory easily, but wanted the challenge.

It went like this:

Played continents. Standard world
on my continent- My dwarves, next to me the tree hugging elves, further south the bannor with their white cloaks. Also on mine are the Clan of Embers and The Sheaim.

the other continent had the Belseraphs, and the Amurites.

I founded The Empyream, and summoned the Mercurials.. The Barbarians summoned the infernals.
I defeated the Clan and The Sheaim (with the Bannors help)...and went after the Balseraphs after the Amurites begged for the umpteenth millionth time for help.

After taking evil out I became the stabilizing factor in the world and kept all countries agreed to aid each other with a defensive pact. Bribing and cajoling to do so...and peace reigned til the end of the game....It was fun.

Not sure if this is the right place for it, but I'd like shere a minor suggestion towards early technology tree.
I've been playing FFH 2 for quite some time now and I enjoy it immensly. Now with sucking up out of the way...
My little problem early on is wth the recon technologies. I believe there is too much of a gap between explaration and hunting, which allows you to build camps on top of deers, furs and ivory. Often the game starts you around those, which I believe should be as legitimate health and luck bonuses, as corn, cows or gold. But since you need around 40 turns of research to be able to work them, you start with a major handicap. I needed to give up a multilplayer game like this once, whereas in vanillla BTS I was able to create an economic empire based on furs and icy start. The might give less gold than gold mines or plantations, but they came earlier (right away actually...), rather than in early midgame, when they do not make much difference anyway.
I had a few ideas how to tweak this issue, but the simplest way would be to move the camp improvements to exploration, and leaving hunting where it is right now, as military tier 2 technology.
Please consider this and if there is an easy way for me to edit tech tree myself (in worldbuilder maybe...) I would appreciate any pointers.

I agree. Years on, I still have that feeling that there are strategies I haven't tried and goals I've come close to but haven't yet achieved. I had that feeling for many years with Civ 2 and vanilla Civ 4, but no longer. (I only ever played Civ 1 on my friend's computer, so of course I never had the opportunity to feel that sense of progress. Civ 3 just seemed boring for some reason, apart from the castle. And Civ 5, for some reason I just never get around to really playing a game of it.)

I agree. I think one of the reasons I haven't really gotten into the FfH mods is that I still don't think I'm that good at regular FfH! I wanted to really master it first and I just can't seem to do it.

That was quite time ago. Then after some time I created an account here on civfanatics only because of FfH. Then I lost the password and create new account. Now I don't even remember what nick I had back then.

Anyway, I guess I'm still here because of modding RifE and the people on FfH's IRC channel. I actually don't even play the Civ very much anymore. Last game I played was FfH PitBoss in November (where I took over Tasunke and failed miserably ) and before that I don't even remember when I played FfH. I only run the civ when I when I'm trying to debug the savegames or want to test some changes or additions I've made for RifE.

I've never been involved in any Civ-community so far, it was only this awsome fantasy mode that made me do so.

I like the full of resources mapscript. It's quite compatible with FFH2, but could use an update. I like minimal lakes plus more.

Huge fan of this mod and I find it is timeless. I keep coming back to it every now and then, and it's rich, rewarding, and plenty of fresh ideas to try out (another civ, another strategy, another mana combo...).
