Why aren't you all Communists?

Perhaps they didn't have a choice. US had conscription back then.
Why does this only apply to the black soldiers and not to the white soldiers?

edit: You're also forgetting that there are plenty of blacks in the American military TODAY, a time with a 100% volunteer army.

Are you denying that black soldiers faced racism in spite of overwhelmingly documented evidence?

Are you insisting you can understand what I'm talking about?
It doesn't look like that.

In that case you have heavily moved the goalposts.

Well, I said black soldiers perhaps didn't have a choice but to fight for racist country (in reply to Thorgaeleg). Because they were conscripted.
From that, you concluded that I
1) Imply that conscription was applied to blacks only
2) Deny racism against blacks
3) Move the goalposts

Did I murder your granddad too?

Anyway, I do agree that the pharmaceutical industry and prescription drug costs have gotten out of hand. That doesn't even remotely make me a communist.

According to many right-wingers it does.

Meh. I've gotten to the point where I identify as a Conservative (basically a self-hating Conservative, just as I used to be a self-hating Liberal). That said, I'm nowhere near as right wing as the people you just described.

Yep, well, criminalize communism and before long anyone who says the bosses have too much power will be thrown in prison.

I also support criminalizing Nazis. There are those that believe anyone who says the slightest politically incorrect statement makes you a Nazi. There is a poster on this very forum (I think its against the forum rules to point someone out that isn't a part of the discussion) who literally believes Barrack Obama is a white supremacist. The person who said this is also a Communist, although that should not surprise you.

There is a joke in Russian, about nuances.
Not sure I can translate it here, because of wordplay and obscenity, but the idea is that nuances can be very important in some circumstances :)

I think I would like Russian idioms.

Can somebody summarise the past 16 pages of this thread for me please? Thanks in advance.

Spoiler doesn't mean it's not fun and engaging :

The European Union has decided to make Holocaust Denial illegal. This is good, but we should make supporting communism also illegal.
How do you imagine that would work?

Semantic quibbling about the word "communist", mostly.

The same way Holocaust Denial is illegal. Shut down every single communist organization, such as every political party that openly calls itself communist. Every time someone goes on TV and says they support communism, have them arrested. Ban 'Marxist theory' from universities. Ban communist leaflets and propaganda machines.

Sounds strangely familiar....

Don't forget to burn books.

That isn't how the criminaliastion of Holocaust denial works. It prohibits the public expression of certain claims regarding the scale and authenticity of a specific historical event. How, in practical terms, do you apply this to so broad a category as "communism", when even in advocating it you fail to make the fairly basic distinction between "communism" and "Marxist theory"?
