I agree. It's like the entire world is Wile E. Coyote running of a cliff and refusing to look down. It's a beautiful metaphor in many different ways. We act completely routinely even in the face of a crisis. Many of us reject hypercapitalism and the rule of corporations yet do not see any meaningful alternative to capitalism. I think your choice of words "simulation" was impeccable, the post-Trump world genuinely sounds like Baudrillardian fan-fiction
