Will installing the summer patch corrupt my current games?

Hello all,

I've currently got a (months-old...blasted adult schedules!) hotseat game going in Civ VI. Should I hold off on installing the summer update until the game is completed, or will it run fine post-install?

Relatedly: I purchased the fancy edition of Civ VI that was supposed to include a few future DLCs for free, including this one. I assume that this update will not automatically install upon launching Civ? I've held off launching the game just in case, but wanted to confirm with some venerable Civ experts .

Unless you change your Steam settings, it will automatically install the update, and, yes, the new patch may well break your save file.
