They use whoever they can when it suits them and once they're no longer needed they're discarded. This is exactly what they've done to the white working class, and now they're beginning to do it to African Americans, since they've been replaced with Hispanics and Muslims.

The only reason why the liberal elites and academics pretended to support the SJW wing of the Democrat Party was to use them to bludgeon the right and to do their dirty work for them. They never actually supported their cause and that's why Hillary cheated Bernie Sanders out of the nomination. You were never part of their party. It's the illusion of inclusion.

The Democrats couldn't care less about so-called "disenfranchised groups." They only care about their Wall Street friends and their big business interests in the media, Silicon Valley, Hollywood, and academia.

To the original question: invariably. All societies collapse. I think 'liberal society' may prove even more short-lived than most societies, because instead of energy pooling inside a core of institutions, it seeps outward, driven by individuals pursuing goals that have nothing to do with society. I say this as a libertarian who is all for more individual liberties and rights, largely because I know of no moral principle that gives me or anyone else the right to command someone else's life for them, without their consent. If the individualist ethos dominates society, however, society will cease to be. We'll just be atoms flying into the void.
