Will there be war with Iran?

Well, it's not like we'd be sending ground troops. He'd just bomb the crap out of them like in Libya.

I dont think that works as well here. Iran will counterattack, I dont think we could contain that counterattack with simple air operations.

How, exactly, would they counterattack, except by shooting our airplanes down?

Missiles towards Israel, if they are angry enough could go after our ground troops in Afghanistan, which in case you have forgotten is right next to Iran. Obviously would go after our Navy as well.

It just depends on how strongly they react to it. I have a bad feeling though they are dumb enough to start lashing out in a way that starts a ground war.

Don't forget Iraq, which is a much softer target than Afghanistan since US forces pulled out.

I fail to see how China can back up Iran without a blue water navy.

I also fail to see why China would back up Iran in the event of an actual war anyways. China's relationships with the United States and maybe even with Israel are more important than their relationship with Iran. China's current tacit support for Iran is mostly so they can use their influence in Tehran as leverage against the United States in other areas. Why would an officially atheist country who's basically guaranteed to be a superpower in the next century want to flush all their potential down the drain in order to help out a Muslim theocracy on the other side of the continent that is fighting a war against their largest trading partner?

I agree with this, iran is simply a proxy by which China can poke the United States. They arent actually particularly close allies so I doubt China is particularly willing to risk WWIII over it. If China goes at it with the US its going to be over something much more precious and close to home like Taiwan or North Korea, not Iran IMO.

China's support for North Korea is actually pretty similar to their support for Iran, though I imagine Beijing actually likes the Iranians even a little better. The only reason the Chinese even tolerate the North Koreans is for diplomatic leverage and to prevent the chaos on the border that would inevitably result from an uncontrolled collapse of North Korea. In some leaked cables a few months ago, Chines diplomatic officials actually referred to North Korea as a "spoiled child" and expressed their desire for reunification under the South.

They don't need a navy. They have nukes. They can also stop lending us money, which would really hurt.

I don't know, but they seem to be getting less fond of us because we're devaluing the dollar and probably won't be able to pay back what we borrowed from them. They've already switched from the dollar to the ruble for their international trade.

I personally think we should just hurry up and build a Stack of Death to conquer the world and win the domination or conquest victory.

I approve of this plan.

We should team up with the Chinese to invade the north and give it to the south

I agree with you 100% :)

Implying China would use nukes to intervene in a minor conflict in the middle east.

HM Ships Daring and Westminister are being sent to the Gulf with Argyll, Lyme Bay, Echo, Pembroke and Ramsey already in the region. Hmm.

Well if it's money they want, starting an extremely expensive world war is not a good way to go about getting it.

Under the right circumstances, I wouldn't be at all shocked to see this happen in the near future.

They dislike NK sure, but since its in their backyard I dont think they would tolerate the US shooting first. Now if NK loses its mind and invades the South and the US comes to defend I dont think China attacks the US. That would entirely depend on who shoots first IMO.
