Will there be war with Iran?

Yeah but which institutions owns the most US bonds even more than China? Yeah... you guessed it. The Fed.

War with Iran is inevitable.

Are these two ideas related... or two separate thoughts?

If related, please explain.

I'm confused as to how the Iranians managed to shoot down a drone with minimal damage.
They didn't shoot it down, they probably took electronic control of the drone. Hacked it, basically.

Here's some footage of the drone.
As you can see the drone there's no evidence of it being shot down or of any crashing.

Edit: Hmm.. although I can see a little dent in the left-wing.

Buddy, The Sum of All Fears is Clancy's fantasy, not fact :p

I don't know about any correspondence with the USSR, but Israel did put several nuclear-armed F-4s on standby in October 1973. AFAIK it was to pressure the Americans into resupplying them (which we did, in secret, until we got busted) and to get the Soviets to put pressure on the Egyptians to call off the offensive.

That is a big blow for using present UAV tech in a high tech environment(rq-170 is as advanced as they get). If the Iranians can subvert control of an UAV then anyone can with a decent military infrastructure. It's a big point for keeping the flyboys around and not have R2D2 take over.

I guess there's a lot of ass-chewing and ass-covering going on in the Pentagon at the moment.

... unless ...

we tsk tsk America.

now there is a site that banned me but ı still browse as a guest and one guy ı respect accidentally deleted the RQ-170 thread and could not put it back , because he also accidentally spilled espresso on his computer . Stands to reason , as the sites inform us that the first visuals from Iran showed a French made test vehicle . And of course what does he owe to Iran and their bots ? This next , well ... Had ı been a member at that first site , ı would have loved to see the experts proving the thing was not a ground training aid with all the wiring deleted .

in the coming weeks we will all hear how the Americans have beeb sabotaging the eager Israelis by losing a stealth thing to fom suspicion on the probable effectiveness of the modern air . Of course without the slightest reference to the good cop bad cop game the West and the Israelis have been playing against Iran's wise guy . Yeah baby , nobody knows here - or would even care - that the last 30 years have seen the scepter of evil Iran pushed down our throats while our country was , kinda , ruined .

Here is an article, that bearing in mind is from a western media, is very nice:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2011/dec/07/iran-war-already-begun?intcmp=239

I copied the first section, if it isnt along with the CFC board rules, please delete it, people can click the link and read the whole article!

Quoting The Guardian:

They don't give up. After a decade of blood-drenched failure in Afghanistan and Iraq, violent destabilisation of Pakistan and Yemen, the devastation of Lebanon and slaughter in Libya, you might hope the US and its friends had had their fill of invasion and intervention in the Muslim world.

That article was riddled with too much emotions and too little fact for my taste. The media should chase war mongering hawks with quality editorials and columns, but that was too over the top for anyone to really buy into the onesided critisism of USA and their western allies.

Iran is a real crisis that's more or less single handedly brought on by their own policy, ambitions and historical activity in clandestine support of international terrorist organizations. After Israel they're pretty much equally feared and shunned by the sunni muslim nations - which is the real problem should they act on some of the more outrageous public comments by their leaders.

Trying to make them a victim is a tough sell that I at least won't buy.

thats a nice reply!
And please let me respond tomorrow!
I've had too much to drink right now and it is a subject I care for, and I do agree with you on som points :)
So I'll be nasty and tell you to wait for a decent reply ;)

Well not tell you to wait for a reply but kindly wait!
That reply came off as a command! No offence!

How do you know the Iranians "subverted" it? There's no evidence. All we have is Iran's word, which is worth less than the electricity I spent writing this post.

It's a big point for keeping the flyboys around and not have R2D2 take over.
Bad idea. If that had been the case, Iran would now have an American PILOT in its hands in addition to the plane.

It's not a pilot the drones need--it's a self-destruct system.

"A U.S. aircraft carrier sailed through the Strait of Hormuz today and into the Gulf without incident on Sunday, a day after Iran backed away from an earlier threat to take action if an American carrier returned to the strategic waterway."

Ah, Iran.

Iran is hell-bent on getting a nuke, and the USA is hell-bent on preventing that. War is inevitable.

The former simply isn't true. Iran can't win a war with the US and they know it, so they'll certainly back down when things get too hot.

They can with China backing them up.

I think it is almost a certainty if a republican is elected, I dont think Obama will do so.

Just like he didn't bomb Libya or increase troop levels in Afghanistan?

Because bombing Libya or trying to win a war we are already in is clearly the same thing as getting into a "real" war with a significantly larger country, especially when he has repeatedly showed more desire to negotiate than the republican candidates. I mean let's be frank, attacking Iran would probably be the strongest military opponent the US has fought since the 1950s, its a little different than bombing libya for a few days.
