Sure, theres lots of breaks in American football, but part of entertainment of American football is that you have time to sit back and analyse what each time has to try to do to win. I enjoy the statistical side of it too. It may only be 11 minutes of action, but the breaks are a good time to look at the endless statistics and try to figure out the course of the game. The breaks also make it a better sport to have a party for, you can socialise without missing much of the game.

Yeah, if you are an american football fan and understand the game a bit better than me. I mean, I kinda know what's going on, but the details of the plays are a mystery to me. I understand most of the rules, but in the end every play looks very similar to me: 1. pass ball to quarterback, 2. throw ball to guy far away. So there's nothing for me to analyze and I'd get the most excited when something unexpected happened, like an intercept.

And yeah, they do make for good parties/social gatherings. I love beer, wings, nachos, and all that stuff, so I'm not opposed to superbowl parties. What is annoying is that they stretch out the game to the whole freakin day.. so then if you are not really a football fan, but you wanna throw a party, it's pretty much gotta be a day-long affair ("We're watching the pre-game stuff at your place, right?"). If it was just a couple hours long, it would be much more bearable.

And I think the poll would be far more interesting if you had a special category for Canadians too.. or if you grouped us with the Americans.

We have our own kind of gridiron here (the CFL), but almost everyone watches the superbowl anyway. Probably not as many as in the U.S., but the number would be high.

I wouldn't be surprised if most of the people voting "Yes, outside of the U.S." end up being Canadians. It sorta distorts your data.

I've seen and enjoyed the last five superbowls, so I'll try watching this one aswell. Unfortunately it means I have to stay up till 3-4a.m on a Sunday which sucks if you're working Mondays...

I might watch it. This year's might be a blow out (Colts win), and then it will be crap. Or, it could turn into another Giants-Patriots supberbowl.

I'm a Browns fan so I'll be wating for the Browns to get into the supberbowl, which I will predect that they will get into the superbowl around the same time that Turkey, and Israel will enter the EU (I.e never).

Yeah I only got into the sport when I got Madden NFL in the bargain bin a few years back. It was very useful for figuring out what the feck was going on.

Its a pretty big commitment to have a Superbowl party yeah, its not like a typical one where everyone arrives relatively late.

Thats true yeah. I probably should have made it North America, or public so I can see how many non US viewers are Canucks.

Yeah I've got stuff early too. Except its a lecture in the morning so paying attention is optional. Turning up is a lot more optional too so I guess its not really the same situation...

I'll definitely be watching the superbowl. My friend is having a party that I will be attending. Now I just have to figure out how to deal with the piles and piles of homework I absentmindedly scheduled for myself for Sunday

I'll be watching it, but I'm going to any party or anything this year. Just my brothers, sister-in-law, nephew and father all getting together.

This one could be good, although no Super Bowl will ever beat the NY-NE Super Bowl! I don't care how long I live, I will never see something like that again! The cheers that erupted in my brother's apartment that night were louder than any I've ever heard!

I can't imagine a way to top that Superbowl. I even bought a t shirt so I can rub it in with minimal effort if I'm around Pats fans.

No, I do not watch handegg. :p

No, i do not watch the weaker version of Rugby.

God forbid, Irish creature, if one disagrees with a sport.

I was just teasing. Actually, I don't watch a lot of sports. But some of the stuff that occurs (ads, particularly significant -- for the fans -- games) is worth noting.

OF COURSE I WILL BE WATCHING IT!!!

This is probably the biggest thing to happen to New Orleans, outside of Katrina, in the past 40 years. People are going absolutely nuts. There was a good chance that school would be canceled leading up to the game (it won't be for public schools, but most Catholic ones will be out).

I'm a sports junkee, and normally the Super Bowl is just a lot of hype...but this game has some very compelling stories, and two exceptional football teams. I'd be surprised if it was a blowout...it should be a damn good game.

I'm going to a party.

The story being that when one of the team prevails, against the other team, they will win money.

I may watch up to a quarter of play. I really don't care for the NFL, and certainly don't care for the Colts or the Saints. I'm looking forward to the return of CFB.

I will watch the gridiron championship, at least that's my plan right now.

Also I'm majorly disappointed at least one team didn't stay undefeated. They messed up the ends of the regular season stupidly.

Fair enough. The whole Rugby/American Football comparison is a bit weak though IMO, they are very different sports.
