Sure, theres lots of breaks in American football, but part of entertainment of American football is that you have time to sit back and analyse what each time has to try to do to win. I enjoy the statistical side of it too. It may only be 11 minutes of action, but the breaks are a good time to look at the endless statistics and try to figure out the course of the game. The breaks also make it a better sport to have a party for, you can socialise without missing much of the game.
Yeah, if you are an american football fan and understand the game a bit better than me. I mean, I kinda know what's going on, but the details of the plays are a mystery to me. I understand most of the rules, but in the end every play looks very similar to me: 1. pass ball to quarterback, 2. throw ball to guy far away. So there's nothing for me to analyze and I'd get the most excited when something unexpected happened, like an intercept.
And yeah, they do make for good parties/social gatherings. I love beer, wings, nachos, and all that stuff, so I'm not opposed to superbowl parties. What is annoying is that they stretch out the game to the whole freakin day.. so then if you are not really a football fan, but you wanna throw a party, it's pretty much gotta be a day-long affair ("We're watching the pre-game stuff at your place, right?"). If it was just a couple hours long, it would be much more bearable.
