Windows XP vs Vista

My girlfriend bought a new laptop around a month ago with Vista on it. It's decent, but I did have the following complaints:

1) Won't load certain programs. Start it... loading splash screen starts up... then nothing. Not in the processing list.. it just disappears. Even worst... the first time it happened was with Office 2007.

2) The "All Programs" Menu sucks.. big time. The one in XP worked fine... why did they change it?

3) Putting the laptop to sleep caused all programs currently open to freeze and Not Respond when you woke the computer back up (Oddly enough... there is ONE exception that we've found to this. The Sims 2).

4) Not sure if it's Vista related or not, but coming out of sleep mode (once again) the built-in wireless would not work. You have to restart the laptop for the wireless to operate correctly again.

5) No "Open With" option when you right-click on a file.

1 sounds weird. No idea.

2. You can switch back if you want. I wouldn't be caught dead with the old one. Now I press the Windows key and start typing the program name...when you have as many programs as I do, it's a timesaver.

3 and 4 are driver issues.

5. I have "Open With" on my Vista. If you don't have a file association set, "Open" does the same thing. Otherwise, "Open With" lets you choose which to use.

Yeah, definitely one great feature in Vista, I renamed shortcuts to be able to type quickly, so start+"civ"+enter opens BTS. :)

Whenever I'm using XP now though, I keep forgetting, and start typing stuff after hitting the windows key...

That does sound cool. Right now i have a powershell console open at all times, with aliases for most common programmes, for exactly the same purpose!
