I see you're still unable to point out anything that you're able to do better in Windows 7 than in Windows 8.

Just general computer usage is easier in Windows 7. Windows 7 does not come with one of the worst UIs ever. I don't like the fact they changed the very basic user interface. Something that has stayed consistent for YEARS. All the points you Windows 8 people made are irrelevant. Its simple that Metro UI/Microsoft Bob 2.0/whatever the hell you want to call it sucks and it sucks badly. Every attempt to change the basic interface has failed and failed badly. Hopefully history repeats itself.

Where is the popcorn smiley? I can't find it, but it is appropriate right now.

 Oh there

It was damn typo and nothing else. The Metro UI is clunkly and unwieldy on a desktop as it was not made for PC use. It was made for Phones and Tablets. Microsoft wants to compete with Apple in that market. They still should not have mixed that Metro crap into the PC version of Windows 8.

I don't know how I can put this any more simply.

You do not have to ever look at the start screen if you don't want to.

You can bring back the start menu EXACTLY as it was in Windows 7 if you want to.

Ergo, your complaints about the Metro start screen bear absolutely no weight.

Good thing you don't have to use Metro in Windows 8.

I think you're mixing up Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Problem is there are rumors that Windows is hell bent on phasing out the desktop interface completely. There is no guarantee they won't patch Windows 8 so those third party start menus won't work anymore. They seem hell bent on forcing Metro down everyone's throats despite the fact most people hate it. The poor sales of Windows 8 are showing that.

There are no such rumors other than by crazy people.

Seriously, every one of Microsoft's flagship programs, and basically every flagship program in existence runs on the desktop, there's no chance they get rid of the desktop anytime soon.

And coincidentally, the desktop in Windows 8 is better than the desktop in Windows 7.

There is no guarantee they won't patch Windows 8 so those third party start menus won't work anymore.

I'm pretty sure Microsoft has never patched their OS to prevent anything other than malware from working.

There's no chance of that happening.

...For the ppl how say " oh, you can bring the start menu back"

How do I bring back aero and the 3D menus? I guess I was one of a few who actually thought aero looked better then flat gradient-less colors.

I see, so when someone repeatedly offers you solutions to your complaints, you complain about losing border transparencies?

Desperate fanboys defending one of the biggest flops since New Coke.

1. Again, Mac OS is my primary OS, I hardly see how that makes me a Microsoft fanboy.

2. The failure of New Coke was that focus testing were too short term and didn't provide enough exposure to the product. That is exactly the opposite situation from Windows 8 - it performs very well in focus testing and in consumer satisfaction after the initial learning curve.
