would jesus have joined the army?

Religion is about controlling others which is violence - religion has nothing to do with the divine (if there is such a thing); it is a human created institution to justify the control of other humans

So you dont like control and violence? I bet you do. Otherwise you wouldnt even be here playing game which whole purpose is to control(violate the will of others) the world.
And frankly there better be something like divinity or else there is no hope of getting out of this mess...

I don't seek to control other people (not that I was always like that, but people can change) - I can recognize the difference between a game and reality.

There is always hope because people can change. Most choose not to so that hope will probably not be realized, but it is there.

Everyone knew the proposal was on its way eventually.

Ah, that was more like Jack Nicholson's comment in 'As Good as it Gets', not a proposal. So since you now know the proper context, no permission to sig.

desire to control is quite natural but when one goes beyond it and has good will and feeling of oneness towards others what else you want to call it then divinity?

You are simply choosing how you define divinity. Some define divinity as the ultimate control and therefore justify their own control in the divinity's name

our beliefs tend to reflect the actions we want to justify, whether good or not

Jesus does not appear to be a figure that would join the army. After all "those who life by the sword die by the sword."

Also the merchent thing does not stop the possibility of Jesus being a hippy. Everyone gets angry... and I think anyone would get angry when a temple becomes a mear market.

Ignorant generalizations are awesome.

It is amazing how many Christians in this forum have far more in common with Jeezus than Jesus.

Heh, I think its amazing that you think so. Well maybe its not so surprising since you struggle heavily with that perception vs reality thing.
