I don't think I could. I might give it a shot, because it might be owing to the work, but I find that just about all the porn stars I kind of like have these dead, hollow eyes. Freaks me out.

Honestly I can see where you believe there is a contradiction, and I might have phrased it as such, and I wasn't clear on whether Hygro got me either, so I will attemp rephrasing it:
When I meet a girl and chat her up, when considering whether she is mateworthy I do not think about whether she makes pornos or not. It's not a precarious consideration that I need in order to answer the poll. Her professions and interests are of course perfectly mentionable from her side but they are not interesting in any other way than how they constitute her as a person, what they mean to her, how they shape her. That means that if she presents herself well to me, I can relate to her, grow interest in her and possible do the horizontal thing at some point. Her social skills, quirks and humor interest me. Prestigious positions help of course (and I admit that porno movie stuff isn't prestigious) but only if they sell it well. Abstractly, the premise is that they show themselves as interesting people, not that they do interesting things. All else is second to their persona and not something I would answer in a very important internet poll.
My qualms with porno actresses, however... Most pornography presents the women very unattractively, and that's why I have some qualms with the idea of dating a porno actress. I just think the porno slut concept is unattractive. I get that the average Joe gets off on the idea of some woman just jumping on him without inhibitions and the unnatural way the act is carried out aside, I just don't particularly feel like humping that girl. If the average porn actress acts unattractively on tape, I will get the negative preconception that she's unattractive off tape. That doesn't have anything to do with pornography abstractly - I happen to positively like some pornographic material contrary to the rest which is a necessary evil for masturbatory boredom - but I have the general preconception that porno actresses won't attract me.
I won't know if it holds up btw, because I do actually not know any porno actresses. That was the whole point with the premise thing above. I hold that my preconception is most probably wrong and that other things will be taken into account upon a potential meeting. It is acting, after all, so I do not expect the porno actresses to be as trashy as they're displayed.
It's like I have preconceptions about, say, floorworkers in supermarkets, or even bankers. What I do (I study music & arts) is often so deattached from their professional life and the places I visit are so different from the places they enjoy to visit. Here the problem is of course different, because I actually know some of those people, but I've merely often experienced a staggering lack of interest in what I do and how it constitutes me from their side because they think I'm a strange art guy. I have no problem with that, fair is fair, if they think I'm more boring than what they have in their world, they're probably right - but I won't put out if they don't pay interest in me.
My point is that if thread was titled "Would you date a banker", my response would not be different from here, because I think profession is a silly standard to have over persona.

A fair proportion of entry level porn is desperation while being drunk to go through with it. A lot of pro porn is drug-rife. Those can both contribute. A lot of porn is drug free, and a lot of porn is a labor of love, no word play meant, so don't take the above as some kind of sweeping statement at all.

Most of the people in this thread have expressed the view that they are perfectly fine with porn acting as a profession and with porn stars as human beings, but are not fine with the idea of dating them. So, for those people, what you're saying has no relevance. I like that my rubbish is collected every tuesday morning, but I wouldn't do it myself. Should I stop putting my bins out on monday night?

That's very strange. I'd be perfectly happy to dispose of my own rubbish. I'd be less than happy to act in my own porn movie.
I have no moral objections to the porn industry. Only practical ones. I don't see that acting in a porn movie is any different from any other form of acting, except in so far as it affects both the participant and the viewer in ways peculiar to it. But this sort of thing is rather too obvious to go into.
