I think a lot of the arab groups may well see Israel/Palestine as their motivation for terror but i also think it has moved on from there.Yes America will be a target due to it's support for Israel but many such groups will target the west due to it's intense dislike for our way of life and international politics in all other areas.
I agree that this situation must be addressed but i dont think soldiers on the ground will have any impact.
Israels military and security forces are very very capable and i don't think that any other powers being present will add anything to Israels capability in dealing with them.
The worst scenario would be the presence of US troops acting as peace keepers as was the intention of UK forces in Northern Ireland where they would find themselves legitimate targets for suicide bombers and hit and run attacks with little or no way of fighting back.I believe that was what rmsharp was alluding to.
I agree with you EzInKy that matters here are a key component
if terrorism in this region is to be reduced.
So how do we do it...i still have no idea?

Israel is far more concerned with self-survival than it is about a seperate independent Palestinean state. I was not saying that US troops should go in as peace keepers, they should go in with the same goal as in Iraq which is changing a fascist regime that encourages terrorism to a democratic one that truly wants peace with its neighbors.

Sorry to deflate your little fantasy but the world is not really as you imagine.

I drive German cars; eat Turkish fast and Italian slow food, watch global entertainment (available in 6 languages) on my Japanese TV. My Korean satellite decoder gets its signal from a satelite owned by News Corp, an Australian company. My Finnish cell phone uses a European system giving me almost global coverage via my Swiss phone copmany. And I am not very different from the 300 million plus people living in this part of the world.

But where was the T.V , car, phone and the modern sattelite invented?

TV by a scott - John Logie Baird
Car - many claim that one - Benz was one of the first
phone - Bell would win -but GMS that makes my phone global - Europe consortium
    saterlite- goes to the USA

so what? the place of invention has little relevance in economic or cultural terms.

    edit for clarity

Doesn't matter how you reply. If you pay taxes you are supporting your government's choice whether you like it or not.

I'm not really an isolationist, but I don't think we should be getting involved in all these other places (at least not by sending troops there). Bush's new doctrine of pre-emption against terrorists and their sponsors is fine if it's just covert ops, assasinations, etc. Small-scale missions against small organizations, but we can't invade and occupy every country we don't like. Literally! Nations have bankrupted themselves by spending too much on wars, and we're already in debt up to our ears. Tanks and cruise missles don't grow on trees, and we're tossing them around like there's no tomorrow in Iraq. At the very least, we'll probably need several months to rebuild our supplies after this latest excursion, so picking a fight with, say, Syria, Iran, or N Korea would be a big mistake.

And what if you agree with all your government's policies except one? Do you harm all the policies you agree with by refusing to pay taxes?

    On topic:

Of course it depends on the situation. In the current world climate NK is the closest to having my support, but only if all attempts fail and etc.

Why does everyone hate Cuba? There are far worse places to live in the world. There are far more repressive regimes. And Cuba is threatening no one. Or even trying to. Or even thinking about it (a safe assumption I feel).

EDIT: If Cuba, why not Singapore? (Umm, I think it's Singapore I mean).

Funny, I wouldn't vote on any of those.
