absolutely kill him. But I think you're incorrect in thinking it would allow the moderates to take over. While the majority of the Palestinian people are no doubt "moderate," I bet the more extreme elements will somehow come to power if Arafat were to be killed. This will finally force the majority of the West to stop supporting the official Palestinian position at which point negotiations become more likely. I hope.

The impotence of Arab leaders at curbing violence is the fault of the Western world? How about a population responsible for the governments they represent. If a majority of Palestinians are moderates why are the only ones who make any noise whatsoever extremists? I don't live there, I don't know the people, but every report I've seen asking any Joe on the street has them advocating violence against civilians. Perhaps this is moderation in Palestine but to me it is extreme.
I thought generalization was a bad thing.
I have completely confidence in my intellectual prowess, and I've grown tired over the last 18 months of terrorism being justified and legitimized. If there are any Palestinian moderates or doves they must be going out of their way to never see the light of day.
Demonizing is a strong word. I just can't help but wonder why all the moderate Palestinians are so willing to stay quiet and hidden. Certainly not because Israel is quieting them, on the contrary, they would probably help the Israeli cause if anything.
Perhaps one of you can prove me wrong. Put a link to a story about moderate Palestinians standing up for something. Or a Palestinian orginization calling for the end of suicide bombers targeting Israeli civilians?
Can you provide me with information regarding either of those moderate positions?
Or is it perhaps it is that my definition of moderation is different than the Palestinians, and that, in my extreme opinion, purposely killing civilians to send a political message is wrong. Always.

I'm not voting in this poll either. As despicable as Palestinian actions have been (and I've never been more sympathetic to Israel than I am now, as my past posts should indicate), killing Arafat may have consequences that will make things worse. Martyrs can be very powerful. ANYTHING can happen after a summary execution of Mr. Arafat. And remember, he PREFERS to be a martyr--he's said so--because he KNOWS what I am talking about.
Israel should hold fast to its defense, though. Try him and throw him in prison maybe--make the trial public, and if there is good evidence he ordered the suicide bombings, present it for the world to see.
