Israel should hold fast to its defense, though. Try him and throw him in prison maybe--make the trial public, and if there is good evidence he ordered the suicide bombings, present it for the world to see.
They have, it was on page 15 or so of the New York Times.
The Palestinian's called it circumstantial and fabricated, even though stating it was unrelated and then denying it is theirs is a contradiction, but that won't sway public opinion.
Arafat is a terrorist and the world embraces him as a hero.
There is more evidence against Arafat's ordering of suicide bombers against civilian targets than there is against Sharon committing war crimes.

Personally I don't see the point of throwing yet another body on the heap.

The problem stems from a created conflict of idealogies. It was created in 1948, when Great Britain 'gave' land to the Jews that it had taken from the Ottomans earlier.

Two groups that worship the same god in different ways, living next door to each other. You wouldn't think it would be that big of a deal, would you? Catholics and Protestants living next door to each other in Irelands were blowing each other up too though.

Seems like only in America can people with minor or even major differences get along together. This being the case, maybe in 1948, America should have given the Jews Idaho or maybe Oklahoma. Or even New Mexico. Hell, we'd just gotten done testing nukes there, it's not like it had major property value.

Unfortunately, that isn't what happened. What did happen, is the Jews got a land grant, moved back onto their ancestral land, which now happened to be Palestinian ancestral land, and started building houses and making little Jews, as people will do.

And the Palestinians, instead of even trying to be good neighbors, gave the land that they were allowed to keep to their Arab 'brothers'. Why? Why, so they could use it as a staging area to push those dirty Jews into the sea.

A couple of fast, bloody wars later, the Jews owned most of the area via conquest. Seems to me, that the Palestinians don't have a homeland anymore. They gave it away, hoping to get more, and the people they gave it to lost it instead.

It's called a bad investment. It's also called the School of Hard Knocks. This particular course seems to have been the one titled:

"Why You Should Never Start a War Against the Jews After Backing Them Into a Corner Shortly After Half of Them Were Gassed and Burnt 101."

Apparently, the Palestinians paid the tuition, and then failed the course. We all know what happens when you flunk out of college. You end up with a ****ty job and a crappy life.

I'd feel worse for them if it weren't for the fact that every course in the School of Hard Knocks can be passed automatically by not doing the stupid thing again.

EDIT: Oh yeah, no vote from me either.

Kill him. Shoot him in the back of the head. That's when serious negotiations would begin between the Palestinians and Isrealis...with out the #1 spin doctor calling the shots behind Palestine, the moderates would take over...

Oh yes.... that would just solve the whole situation wouldnt it? As soon as he's dead everyone will be happy....

please excuse my sarcasm.... im hungry....

If Sharron was to have Arafat killed, he'd be signing his own death warrant. Mutally assured destruction is the only thing that's keeping those guys alive.

seriosly, whose arafat?

im a very ignorant man, and i don't watch TV (no TV in my house), and i can't be bothered reading the isreal-palistine stuff in the paper.

No vote - I almost voted kill him immediatly when I saw the poll, but unfortunately I think it would be a bad move as that make him a martyr.

Arafat is really no better than Usama, the only difference is that he doesn't target the US.

Hey Fearless, you summed it up well.

"I'd feel worse for them if it weren't for the fact that every course in the School of Hard Knocks can be passed automatically by not doing the stupid thing again."

The question is, how many times does the school continue to accept your enrollment after such repeated failures, before it permanently expells you?

Seems it's been pretty patient with Palestine....

The way I see it Arafat can't be held responisble for Palestina, he has no power at all. In this conflict I'm in favor of the Palestines though, but against their ways to accomplish their nobel goal: independency from Israel; an own state. I disapprove the ways Israel reacts more though.....there is a solution for this, but that is wrong and too easy......

Ok, answer me these questions then:

1. How do you know arafat has no power at all when he didn't even try?
2. Not only he does not try, but obvious links were found between him to the ordering of karine a the weapon ship.
3. Arafat IS the head of the fatah, the largest of terror organizations in palestine. Are you still sure he has no control at all?
4. What is your wise solution?

For the last years we saw that the palestiniens refused peace offers and cease fires, and in each one sided cease fires israel comitted they only ignited the area right?
After over 50 israelis get massacred over passover, you want us not to do something about it?
Whats wrong about Israel trying to stop terror while the palestiniens do not? What is your solution to the situation?
Arafat was given numerous chances to at least try to stop terror and he used none. So if you think the problem does not lay in arafat, who does it lay in? In israel, that comitted one sided cease fires each time and suffered from it, while the palestiniens did not follow?
You can't empty the blame from arafat saying he has no control because you cant know that.
The facts are he is the head of the largest terror organization in palestine and he never tried to stop terror.
The facts are he is incharge of the palestinien education, and I can show you a link to how manipulating to violence the palestinien education is.
Facts say that whenever Israel retreated arafat did not follow his commitments to try and stop terror and each time Israel suffered as a result from that, and now you dont want Israel to respond?
What Israel did so wrong by returning to the territories?
Each day we were not in the territories during passover dozens of Israelis were slaughtered in restaraunts and hotels, but you seem to forget that.
The fact is that now is relatively quiet comparing to passover when our army is doing its operation to try and stop, or put terror, on hold.
Facts are the Israeli Defence Forces found hundreds of weapons, dozens of explosive labs and arrested hundreds of terrorists during the latest operation and that brought realtive quiet Inside Israel. I'm sure the palestinien forces, the same forces Israel and USA funded, armed and trained, can try and do that at least.

So please, tell me how you assume arafat has no control when he didnt even try, and what is your solution.
