Has anyone here ever written a book? I have.

Congratulations!
Are you getting it published?
(That's a very short OP, though. What did you want me to ask?)
I had a basic agreement for a book deal set up with a publisher, but legal complications pushed the project away, and now I won't be finishing it. I hope to write a book soonish though.
Whats yours about? How did you go about the publishing process?
I finished a book a couple years ago on a now dead computer. It wasn't great, not worth publishing, but I was glad I'd finished a project.
I'm working on a different project right now that's a little more original.
You should publish the 1st project anyhow on Lulu. Even if it's not great, at least you can say you got something publish until you ready for the 2nd one to be published.
I can't with that project because A: I don't have the book anymore (Its on a dead computer and was never printed) B: I've "Stolen" ideas from that book for my current project, enough that someone reading them both would be like "What the heck is this the same universe?" (I used the same name for a wizard character in both) and C: I ended it on a cliffhanger. It was supposed to continue in a sequal, but ends totally ambiguous, not even knowing if the protagonist died or not.
That said, how does publishing on Lulu work? And does publishing something there ensure you'll never get it published anywhere else, or not necessarily?
Check them out!
You proably get more a copy for your book then you will with a pro publisher. I get $10.86 a copy for my memoirs on Lulu and $4 on Amazon when it goes mainstream in a few weeks, and my brother who wrote a history picture book with a mainstream publisher only gets 8% of $21.95 if someone buys on the publisher's site.. And he gets only 90 cents if one on Amazon sells.
You upload the file and you get a ISBN number. You can pick the size of your book, 6X9, 8.5X11, and so on. You enter in your own information and design your own cover and can add your own pictures and set your own prices and can get it added onto Amazon in 6 nations. Any more places will cost you there.
Is it amateurish? Yes. But is it better in my opinion, yes.![]()
I seriously will check it out. How much does it cost to use the sevice in the first place (Or nothing)? And how easily (cheaply) can you get copies for yourself?
I may really have to check this thing out when I finish my current work...
Every day I write the book.
Wow! This website looks very intersting. Would you mind telling us how exactly does it work, how much does it cost and how does it feel publishing with Lulu?
Self-publishing is free. I thought this was common knowledge?
Correct. Unless you go to a scam however.
I hope you do! I was a skeptic of this place at first, but it turn out to be a good place. It costs nothing to start out. You don't get any free copies, but you get it at only the manufacturing cost. So if it cost $10 to make... you just pay the $10.
Sweet. Will DEFINITELY look into this when I'm done![]()
Thanks![]()
What scams? You can self-publish physical books via Amazon and Lulu, and ebooks through Amazon (KDP), Kobo, Smashwords, B&N, etc.
Great and you welcome .Would you like for me to PM you a link to one of my books by the way?
OK. Give me a couple of minutes and I will do so.
Hey, buy a copy off of me and I buy one off of you.
