XCOM spreads CIV love!

Have any of you been having any game crashes? I've been playing for about 90 minutes and I've already had 2 crashes. I don't think it is due to graphics as my laptop can handle Deus Ex (also using the Unreal Engine) just fine.

None yet. ATI HD 5750 here (or 5770, I can't remember.) It's been working like a champ for hours since that initial "corrupted file" error the very first time I tried to launch it. Thankfully that was a quick "validate game cache, close steam, restart steam" fix for me.

Do you have the Steam Community overlay on? I turned it on to get Morroblivion to work.

I honestly don't do much "community" stuff on steam at all, but if you simply mean the "shift-tab" thing, yeah that is enabled and works.

Grrrrr. Crashed again while in China.

mine hasnt crashed.

Despite the occasional crashing, I am completely loving XCOM.
Unfortunately my French sniper just got jumped by a Floater and died. *sniff* She wasn't particularly skilled but she had a special place in my heart after she missed every time for the first three missions. As a result, I nicknamed her "Miss Shot".

I have a low opinion of snipers in general now. Who misses at 98% twice in a freaking row.

My fave squad build. They got kinda beat up this round. The KIA, well I feel sorry for the kid, but he was substituting for my heavy who was already injured. Also, continuing my highly sexist practice of having a "Tits McGee" in pretty much any game I play, if possible.

OKAY I BOUGHT IT. JEEEZ YOU GUYS. I hope you're happy because I am. :)

I'm winning ever battle and losing the war. I already lost 4-5 nations. (can you get those back?). I took my sweet time getting around to attacking the 1st base. I lost two nations before it click that this was a losing srat. Saw i had nowhere near the number of engineers, so it took me a few more rounds as I slowly watched the world go in to mass hysteria.

And my interceptors couldn't shoot down a UFO to save my life (no I didn't upgrade them, no money). So there's that.

in the original you could never get a country back once they signed a treaty with the aliens...dunno if they changed that

You can access the research archives for things you've researched, but it's not as good as the old style ufopaedia. For instance, to look at gun specs, I have to pull up a soldier, check their loadout, and look at the gun to get the specs.

I mean some background stuff about what you're actually researching. Or is it just "Fancy Tech Name"+one sentence description+what it does in gameplay terms? Because that would suck big time.

You get more than a one liner, for sure. Here's one example, xeno-biology. Note the scrollbar on the right that's hiding even more of a description than is being shown.

I like how this is written by the good doctor herself, and not by some anonymous team.
