Update (offical) 1: year 100 (1300 BCE)

Trebizond
The People of Trebizond make good work of the surrounding lands, expanding to the east and west, primarily along the coastline, and skirting newly established Hittite borderlands in the west, in accordance (more or less) with the established treaty between the two nations,. To the east however, fortune favors the Trebizonese even more, and after relatively little sear along the coastline, a wonderful spot for a settlement is found. The new settlement, called Cholchis, is an eerie one however. Settlers feel as if they are on the very edge of wilderness, and huge, dark mountains, and deep, shadowy forests give many a child nightmares. The people want to push farther into the hinterlands, there are very few signs of people around, at least in the coastal regions, but that could change if the people of Trebeizond try to penetrate inwards, into the mountains.
[new settlement, Cholcis established in the wilderness; the wilds around the area foster tall tales of monsters; while they scare little children, they help foster the culture of Trebizond as a whole: +1 culture]

Cimmeria
The people of Cimmeria it seems, have one thing on their mind: expansion, expansion, expansion! The king of the Cimmerians orders troops to be dispatched to the winds, ships saidl north and south, and troops march into the wester fields; the steppe is alive with the sound of Cimmerian drums keeping the men in some semblance of a goodly ordered step, and expansion is made easier by the fact that some fo the Cimmerians who resisted settling down see the results of it, and join in with fledgling nation.
[Expansionist parties meet up with still nomadic Cimmerians, and impress some of them enough to join in the settled nation, though many still shun the still life of the new townships springing up across the steppe: +50 horsemen]

Sparta
The Spartans waste no second in instituting harsh laws and reforms, seemingly to militarize the populace; training a new formation of Spear men, the Spartans seem hell bent on insuring that the kings commands are followed by the populace as well as any of his soldiers would carry out: It has mixed results. The King has recently concluded a treaty with the Athenians, whom many Spartans consider heretics for their doubting of the ways of the Gods, and this had led to the King losing some support amongst the populace.
[The Draconian Laws of Sparta, combined with its famed religious piety and superstitious citizenry gain much renown: +1 culture]

Euskara
The Euskarans spend their time busily, primarily looking into the secrets of metallurgy, with limited success, the smiths of Euskara learn how to smith a material known as “brass”, something very useful for adorning jewelry, or other decorations with, and, while not the most useful metal, still has some advantages to its creation. Otherwise the Euskaran leadership is preoccupied with, after failure to create better ships, to simply ply the populace into a more adventurous, ro at least more open minded spirit; and some how manage to push to the Ebro river in the south, where contact with an advanced people known as the “Tartessians” make the people question thief cherished world views about the Euskarans being the only people of worth in the world. The biggest boon to expansion however, is actually the failure to build better ships; whale hunting, a common pass time and source of food for the people, forces the Euskaran populace to seek out new areas of habitation to create new harbors so their short range boats can get to the whales; the result is the creation of Oviedo, and Bordeaux.
[Euskaran smiths invent Brass working: while not exactly a strong metal, its very useful for decoration, and its becoming very popular: next trade route only costs 2 economies to establish]

Hatti
The Hittites, after successfully negotiating a treaty with the people of Trebizond, set their sights on expansion; expanding in what essentially, just a big ass circle (or perhaps large ovoid mass would be apt), the king is still most pleased; how ever, the real developments in the kingdom are technology wise; the king has commissioned a new, stronger chariot, better built for the Hittite highlands to be built, and a new form of writing; a phonetic script has come into use; not the first of its kind, the Phoenicians having developed one previously, it is still an achievement, particularly since it seems to have spread north to a people known as the “Cumans”
[The Kings Patron ship of the new forms of Charioteering has led to many a young noble buying a chariot and a team of horses to gain the kings favor for his household: +50 UU]

Qin
The Qin spend their time annexing new farmlands, and pursuing peace accords with the other powers the are nearby them, and everyone coincides peacefully; however, clouds beckon on the horizon, as decidedly non-Chinese barbarians show up on the scene, some of them look almost civilized enough to settle down, and become nations all of their own. The people of the four Chinese kingdoms are frightened, and look to their kings for guidance.
[The Qin Populace feel the need to be protected from the encroaching Barbarians; mighty walls have been built around the capital city.]

Athens
The Athenians turn their own attention not towards expansion of land, but rather, expansion of the mind; a new form of thinking, and more scientific way fo thinking, where the properties of the world are not judged as being facets of the divine, but are taken on a case by case, fact by fact basis as properties of the natural world, and already it has caused a stir- the Spartans to the south, a deeply religious folk resent it greatly, and consider it heresy against the Gods, but the Athenians keep on their track, and even begin a great new dedication to this way of thought, the so called “Academy” a location where great philosophers, scientists, mathematicians, historians, and others learned in the sciences and arts may go to teach what they know, or engage in debate over them. Stationing troops on the Theban border, the Athenians fail to attract much attention other then scouts, whom are sure to alert the city should Athenian troops start coming past the border stones.
[The new found patronage of the sciences, both officially by the kingship, and by the culture of Athens at large results in the population becoming more learned in the sciences: +1 education]

Cumans
The Cumans pursue a policy of westward expansion, coupled with the kingdom encouraging scholarship, already, a class of priests has adopted a souther form of scripture, and is keeping records for the kingship.
[The Priest-Scolars, for a small fee, tutor those who wish, and can afford to learn to read and write, for now, the cost is cheap, and the pupils many: +1 education]

Saba
The Sabans expand to the southwest, and find, much to there surprise, a land much more ripe then that which they started out in; a coastal region with a good climate, and much more suitable to agriculture, several new towns have sprung up, and all fo them have a population larger then the capital; their is pressure on the kingship to move the royal court from Saba itself to either the city of Musa, right on the coast of the Reed Sea, or tot he city of Zafar, a bit north east of Musa’s location.
[The rampant city growth has fostered internal trade links: +1 economy]

Aquitane
Aquitania, a new nation sprung from the Celtic tribes on the mainland (as have several, in fact) a centralized monarchy, they soon prepare their expeditions to the coast of their native Gallic homelands; southwards penetration takes a back burner however, simply because there is so much success in consolidating the northern frontier to the sea
[Aquitane is rapidly becoming a famed center for Celtic culture in the mainland, and its renown stretches far and wide amongst the Celts: +1 Culture]

Svealand
The Sveadish peoples begin to build up their own kingdom too, arising from the barbarian tribes of the Nordsmen, the promptly begin kicking the Germans out of the land the Svedish claim is their by right; the Germans, not bing in any real position to argue, mostly pack up and leave, and cross the Baltic sea, those that give resistence are captured and sold off. Expanding Rapidlly, the Sveads claim several Baltic islands as their own, and many want to push out onto the other side of the Sea entirelly,
[The selling of German slaves to Norse tribes has resulted in good trade links: next trade route with any other Nordic nation, or a nation on the Baltic sea only costs two economies to create]

Babylon
The Babylonians come under a firm dynasty of Rulers, and soon begin a massive campaign of expansion, and its larglly successful, for the King has invested in new chariots to rapidly claim, and then to patrol and ensure his control over those claims. However, good ideas are seldom kept to oneself, and the idea of Civilized life is indeed a good one; the Elamites centered on Susa pop up to the east, and the Assyrians to the North; the Hyksos are a barbarian peoples inhabiting the near by area, and to the west, the Phoenicians and Canaanites inhabit the western stretch of the fertile crescent, the valuable portion of the coast.
[So many new neighbors- so many possible enemies convinces the Babylonian populace that something needs to be done, and many a son a forwarded into the kings armies, to form the basis of the new Bowman corps: +75 UU]

Ireland
The second kingdom to form of Celtic influence, soem say that the people are actually descended Iberian Spainards, whatever the origin, the people waste little time, and soon control the entire Island, and begin sending out ships to make contact with other peoples; it turns out that, fo the moment at least, the other island isn’t all the much inhabited except in the south, by the Birgantes tribe, which isn’t exactly the picture of an organized nation; in fact, in the north, their quite a bit of free land to settle in, though of what worth it will be seems limited at the moment.
[The Irish achieve a truly amazing feat, and brew the first non-wine alcohol; eve at this early time, the Irish have given their gift to civilization for ages to come, and will forever be remembered as heros to all young collage men everywhere: +1 culture, comrades]

Bavira
The Kingdom of Bavira, another sprog fo Celtic culture springs forth from the bosom of the earth, and settled itself it the very south eastern portion of Celtic culture. A hopeful ot they seem to have a lot of promise to become a model Celtic kingdom; however, there is some trouble; Illyrians are to the southeast, and most of the people wish to stay clear of them* Though a few fanatics want to take the fight to them, a traditional enemy of the Celt, no matter how bloody the battle may be; however, trying to push against the Illyrians may alienate Northern Celtic tribes as Illyirans are adopted into the kingdom, and may push Illyrians to unite into a real nation to oppose them, neither of which are very good options
[The people would prefer to spread to the north, and stay in Celtic lands then to pursue a southernly kingdom where dirty Illyrians thrive, unless the Illyrian strike first: The next trade route with a (Celtic) nation only costs 2 economies]

Spotlight[/b]
Rome

The Roman aristocracy takes an edgy maneuver: after months of deliberation, much to the irritation of the populace at large (particularly one Xenicus Moderatorus), the Roman senate authorizes a delegation to be sent to the Illyrians, to secure peace- The expedition edges close to Illyrian territory, as they pass the clear cut boundary stones marking the entry into the land, the sweat visibly drips from their leaders brow, the Senator, and Nobleman Quitilicus, spear men, flanking him, the y rustles in the bushes, birds crow in the background, and sky grows dark ”What evil Omens has Iupiter sent us today?” thinks the senator, horns blow, shouts can be heard, and the soldiers come together in a tight formation, they come into a clearing, the Romans keeping their tight formation, edge through, praying to the gods that they aren’t ambushed; and yet despite the prayer, it doesn’t pay off; a small horde of Illyrians soon surrounds the party of Romans, and at 200 yards they charge, howling blood curdling battle cries, running at full speed. The Senator faints, for it is all over, and he is about to die...

...Of course, this was perhaps the farthest from the truth as one could get mind you; most of the Romans had relatives amongst the Illyrians, for the Romans were only a step away from the hills forts and tribal council that the Illyrians used, the main difference the Romans being more metropolitan; seems the upperclass fo Rome grew too distant from their roots and forgot, or forced out of their minds their semi-barbaric roots; welcomed as Brothers the military commander relates to his third cousin, twice removed on his mothers step brothers side about what all the fuss is about; relating to them the good that Rome offers, the word soon spreads of Rome, and fairly soon after another good few family reunions later, most of the Illyrian tribes in Italy proper have vested themselves unto the Romans, and the Other Illyrians seem interested in what Rome has to offer, particularly if its some sort of aide or protection against the Celts.
[Rome expands greatlly because of the Illyrian aide, and gains 75 Spearmen besides; its likely that if it can convince Illyrian cities to join it, it will gain a boost of soldires]

General Notices
* (in refercen to the Illyrians)
"Their high opinion of their own fighting qualities led to rash behavior
that got them into tight places from which only their own
prowess could extricate them." -- Phil Barker

-The Egyptians and Minoans have greatlly expanded, and look to be on the path to contineu such expansionist policies

-The Illyrians and Celts are looking to the nations closest to themselves for protection, because of both each other, and what looks like a Germanic invasion from the north, and many are willing to seed themselves to larger, more organized nations such as Rome and Bavira: its likely that similar results can be found from many such semi-Barbarian peoples whom have a connection with a more civilized counterpart

-Elam, Assyria, Phoenicia, Carthage (player), and Canaan have all arisen in this age

-The Hittites have no ocean connection, nor river connection: their galleys default to 50 chariots; technically, so should the Cimmerians, but since they chose to make of their galleys, their stuck with them

-The Barbarians in China will be added on an amended map
