XTR1--- Regent SG

Erm, I'm in a little bit of trouble, due to, uh, grades. :o

So feel free to skip me if you'd like.

How long do you think you'll be? I'm suffering civ-burnout ( :( ) but I can play my turns if needed.

Got it. And playing too.

Really sorry guys, the slow turn around was my fault entirely.

Our Save!

Pre-turns: Time for horsemen production baby!

IBT: Arabs are building the hanging gardens.

Turn 1 : Not much, since we are still in anarchy. I think I’ll take monarchy, at least for now. We are going to want to be warlike for a while and take over the eastern part of the continent anyway.

IBT: Yay! Anarchy is over, we are now a monarchy.

Turn 2 : We sure have a lot of libraries being built. I think aqueducts and marketplaces are a bit more important at this point in time, considering we have the Great Library. MM in deck the halls cutting off 6 turns on the Great Lighthouse. Actually, a whole lot of micromanaging. Somehow our citizens are working a bunch of really odd tiles. Also, due to the Monarchy commerce change we don’t need taxmen or entertainers. So now after like 15 minutes of MM, all of our cities are working good tiles. All cities are either building a barracks, an aqueduct, or a marketplace. A few culturally pressured cities are still building culture though.

IBT: No hay nada.

Turn 3 : Wow boys, we have a really large empire. I rush an aqueduct in a few cities that can use them immediately due to one turn growth.

IBT:
Adana aqueduct>marketplace
Izmit aqueduct>marketplace
Turn 4 : Rush aqueduct in Aydin

IBT: We go ahead and renew the spices>ivory deal with Cleo, she wants 150 gold thrown in, it barely dents our coffers.
Istanbul marketplace>hanging gardens
Aydin aqueduct>marketplace

Turn 5 : Lots and lots of workers. Yay for industrious!

IBT: Nada.

Turn 6 : Looks like the Koreans haven’t figured out how to worship the Gods, or learned how to build libraries. Morons. They don’t have a single city besides the capital with expanded borders.

IBT: Nada de eso.

Turn 7 : A whole boatload of worker movement.

IBT: Palace expansion from our benevolent citizens.

Turn 8 : Istanbul is size 10 at 18 spt, one lost to waste.

IBT: Arabic settler/spearman pairs moving around in our borders.

Turn 9 : The normal stuff.

IBT: A few builds of aqueducts. I clicked too fast to note the names. Oops! We do get a palace expansion though!

Turn 10 : I go ahead and rush a whole bunch of marketplaces in our core.

Whoever is up next will learn that the GPT has pretty much multiplied by 2.5 since our entrance to Monarchy. Don’t let anyone tell you markets are useless.

Nice and short turnlog due to expensive markets and anarchy.

I really think Monarchy will be better for our strategy of war. Because this is a very large map, wars will drag on for a longer time. If we are to take over the world we are going to be in a lot of wars.

Lots of wars+lots of time=massive WW.

Monarchy is simply the best way to avoid it. :)

I agree to Monarchy, we will lead techwise as we chose anyways and we won't have the trouble fighting warweariness.

SC is up and I hope he got the time to grab it. I need a day or two before I can play.

Consider this a got-it: it's almost midnight here, though, so I'll pick it up tomorrow. :)

My apologies for the delay-- but I was told to "take my time". ;)

Not entirely sure what is expected of my turns, but the theme of the last turns has been to prepare for war-- so prepare for war I shall. I expect a nice, quite round of building and trading.

Short-Term Goals:
  • -make sure our cities are well-defended.
  • make sure all cities have proper training facilities.
  • raise an army. (Horsemen)

Summary:

Nothing much happened. As of right now, we have about four jungle tiles left to cut. Almost every city is working on horsemen. We're even with everyone, ahead of some others in technology.

Military :

We're strong compared to everyone else. Almost every town has barracks, and I think 100% of our cities are guarded by spearmen. Some towns have walls.

We have a lot of horsemen, most of them heading toward Istanbul or in the city itself.

Diplomactic :

No wars between anyone.

Science:

Persia and Carthage seem to be the big tech guys in this game. Korea and Japan are dumber than dirt. Greece and Zululand are trailing in the ancient-era techs, but most everyone else is beginning medievalism.

Log:

310 A.D (IT): Marketplaces are finished all over the empire. The Zulu build a Great Lighthouse. Debate switching Deck to the Hanging Gardens, due in seven turns, but...well, no, let's go to palace.
320 A.D (1): Tap enter.
330 A.D (2): The Persians finish the Hanging Gardens. That bites.

Trade Republic, Monarchy, and 510 gold to Hannibal for Engineer and his territory map. We then get most of his treastury (576 gold) for monotheism.

340 A.D. (3) Lawn-mowing.
350 A.D (4) Horse derby in Kafa. The heavy favorite wins, and many of our citizens reap the rewards of gambling big.
360 A.D (5)
370 A.D (6) Mayor of Aydin dies. The citizens lament-- "he kept the potholes filled." We don't know what a pot hole is, but...
380 A.D (7)
390 A.D (8) *stifles yawn*
400 A.D (9) Some warriors learn how to handle swords and return to their posistion on the frontier.
410 A.D (10):

I'm not sure what the next player is supposed to do, either.

It's good to be the :king:

Ok, got it and play tomorrow.

Should I play 20-30 turns to speed this up? ;)

Gozpel: remember that Deck the Halls is on Palace, due in twenty-something turns. It used to be the great Lighthouse, but now it's just a wonder prebuild. We might want to try self-researching fedualism, depending on how the AI researches-- because if we're going to war, we want to deprive them of Sun Tzus-- not to mention it will help us financially, since it will pay the upkeep for our barracks and put free ones in every city lacking one.

Hey SC, that was a DGIT save in that zip. It looks like an interesting game, but I'm not signed up and would prefer a XTR save :D

I think it was 1160 AD or something, the map was pretty red so I reckon it was close to a win :)

Ok, got the right save now it seems.
