YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

Sorry if I'm being thick, I've never used a modded map on any civ before. When I start a game it gives me map choices AND map sizes. Do certain sizes and maps have to be chosen together or are they interchangeable? Also how can I tell which ones are old world only? Thanks
 
Skål! Scandinavian names added. That was a hell of work... Kinda feel that Scandinavia is way too big on the map. However: http://imgur.com/a/wLpNE

Do you want some different suggestions to the Swedish names? I would actually replace a few to make them more correct.

And why did you add Ösel ( That island in Estonia ) and northern parts of Germany to Scandinavia?
 
The direction of the river flow? You're worried a river might flow upstream? I can't see any player (some of whom apparently are in love with Strategic View) losing any sleep over it. It's like watching a movie and seeing the car tires going backward. Or rather, not seeing it, as you're used to it. Or rather, you don't care, as you're watching the movie.

But since we're apparently micro-editing, you might also want to get rid of that quaint Sinai mountain. I know there's a Mt Sinai, but it doesn't take up hundreds of sq miles.
It's the confluence drawing that annoy me. But speaking of it, I'll try to see if the direction can be forced IIRC something like that was used in one of civ5 DLC for the Nile.

You should not see map size when one of the real maps are selected.

The old world is a ruleset.

Yes, I realized that after posting, sorry. But I thought the Nile delta was done rather nicely. The 1 tile Bosporus, on the other hand, is off; it could be done much more elegantly by placing a river between the European and Asian 'side'. (And yes, that would look 'weird', but the Bosporus really is that narrow of a passage. If Istanbul wouldn't allow Russian warships to pass, there would be little they could do about it.)

Absolutely! I am preparing an independent thread right now, let us continue there. I'll link it as soon as it's up.

There is no real connection between ethnicity and the mapping. I just do it to scope the project. It's all the same map and file so every civ gets the names that are on that tile. So for example you will found german cities like "Berlin" if you expand with Norway into german territory.

It seems to default to small map size for me, so I have to trick it in the start menu by selecting a vanilla map and making it enormous size. Then add civs in manually in advanced settings. But I've got it working I think (I'm on Mac btw)

There are some things that we can discuss there too, like small edits on map around big cities locations and not just the capitals, options like rename on capture, long term goal like AI settlers prioritizing the city map for their civs, and maybe changing the project structure to manage the city maps in multiple files if it's easier.
i will add this to the project status post (gonna do the manual first)

Hi, I didn't find any information on multiplayer save games, so I got a question:

I was just trying to do a game with my wife using your new map size "enormous". She couldn't join the game if I already set the map size ( as you noted in your mod information) but as soon as I switched the map size to a vanilla one, she could join and I could switch it up to enormous again. The thing is: What do you do when loading a save game with this size? She can't join then and I can't switch the map size, obviously.

What do you mean by "unit shields" ? swordsman shield ?

Or an icons related to units ?

Sorry that was a little vague. There is a colored border around every unit and city icon normally. When I use this mod (only this mod) and play on the two largest map settings the colored border does not appear- its a small bug but really bothers me.
 
Guys, the problem is still there for me no matter what i do. I start playing on gretest map and everything work very smooth for mabe 30 turns, turns load very fast, but after that turns load forever for whatever reason, my system is not overloaded therefore this is not a hardware problem. Any solutions?
 
from .8: change Cliffs of Dover yields (2 food, 1 culture, 1 gold) in ruleset

I was just playing Greatest Earth on Old World light ruleset, and the yields did not reflect this, fyi

I experienced the same thing but not all the time, weirdly! My second game had the correct yields with the same alpha.

LAN or Internet ? Mod activated on both computers ? Did you had a desync on first turn ?

I'll try to replicate this one, I had no issues when launching a game in LAN, I will try on reload.

VRAM limitation on big maps, I've the same problem on ludicrous size with my second computer running a 960 GTX / 2GB VRAM. But the Giant size seems to be working on it, what's your GPU ?

Barbarians overthinking their next move maybe.

Abilities are not given to CS, they will be in next (independent) release, but the Art can't be changed yet AFAIK.

Strange.

But the rulesets have changed for next version, their will be a common ruleset (the yields change being part of the common one) and 3 rulesets for each civilization selection (Earth, Europe, Old World) for Small, Medium and Large scale gameplay.

Note that there won't be any change to gameplay if no rulesets are selected, even the "common" rules.

We'll see if the issue is still there then.

Or could the problem be that the game "sees" the hardware and limits the CS for playability?
 
LOVE the maps!
sadly game quits at the 200-250 turn mark each time (even after reloads) is this a know bug or just my mac saying - 'nope. too much. can't do it' ?

turn times were creeping up to 1:30 by this time

this is the greatest earth map script fwiw

hey, do you play with may AIs or only just a few? cause i have a feeling that it depends on how many AI player you put on the map. when i do my testing for the mod, i start the game with me and only 1 AI player and i get only 2 or 3 CS. but when i add all the AI players and start a game, i get a lot of CS.
