YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

First: I f*ck*ng Love You Guys!!
Gedemon, you're my hero ^^

Second:
It would be a "greater" dream coming true if there will be a way to play multiplayer (local and online) with those maps.
Will it be technically possible to do so in the future ?
I think Civ V could use this mods in local multi only.

After testing Greatest Earth Map earlier, I so wanted to play it! I took the time to edit in the start locations for Kongo, Sumeria, Norway and Scythia. Changed a tile up in Norway so the two small landmasses up there are conected to give them atleast as much room as England rather than a 1-2 City island. I have also done the start locations for all 24 City States. I did however change the names of 7 of them and recolcated them. (The Unit names still reference the unchange Names though, very odd since I can not find a reference to them in the text files, will do some more digging tomorrow, 2.40am here :) )

Link to files if you interested, might save ya a bit of work :)

I only had slow down at turns 5 -15 when the barbs were all spawning at the same time, probably 45 - 60 seconds a turn but then leveled out to 10 seconds a turn. At around turn 60 or so things started to slow down some more, probably 30 seconds a turn. No errors, no crashes. It was actually super enjoyable to push the French back to the choke point that Spain has. A few civs died mostly in Europe but nothing too insane. As well i turned off goody huts which seem to help wit lag which was weird.

Interesting that the barb problem tapered off.

Something else for those with barb problems to try - change to the lowest difficultly and try that. Do the barb problems seem to go down?

As far as I can tell the problems kick in when barbs are close and clearly run some different AI loop to decide how to behave. However, I think it's also influenced by the number of barbs on the map. They all think harder because some of them are close to you.

Assuming you have a mod working, for the Giant Earth, in <UpdateDatabase>:
HTML:
<GameInfo>
    <GiantEarth_StartPosition>
        <Replace>
            <Civilization>CIVILIZATION_YOURCIV</Civilization>
            <X>155</X>
            <Y>64</Y>
        </Replace>
     </GiantEarth_StartPosition>
</GameInfo>
(and <GreatestEarthMap_StartPosition>)

and in the modinfo (but I don't know if References are working like civ5 or working at all)
HTML:
  <References>
     <Mod id="36e88483-48fe-4545-b85f-bafc50dde315" minversion="0" maxversion="999" title="Yet (not) Another Maps Pack" />
  </References>
works great.

"Ludicrous" is a size for mapscripts (continent, pangea, fractal, ...), not a map.
Thanks! Wondered what I was doing wrong.

Got it to work right. Playing as Russia, first two starts I have dyes (+1 faith) on wooded tundra. I'm generating 3.1 faith by turn 11. Both times, someone beat me to Dance. Couldn't believe it. Must be someone either starts close to a faith boosting wonder, or near 2 religious city states. But who the heck would pick tundra? My guess is Scythia.

Got it the third time though. Not as nice a start resource wise, but there *is* sugar on a marsh (+5 food unworked) that should be inside my borders soon.

I haven't made it to 55 turns yet, so my input isn't worth much, but the turn times at this point don't seem any longer for me. I did turn barbarians off though. It was a tough decision, but I don't play with goody huts, and I was worried Sumeria would have an unfair advantage (still not sure what can pop).

These maps of yours are outstanding, Gedemon. I loved your map for V, glad and thankful you put the effort in to make one for VI.

Oh... one thing I noticed... that weird labeling that came in the options screen... I noticed if I back out, go back into the mods section, and unclick then click for your mod, I can then go back to the options screen and it works fine. Everything seems smooth so far.

Ha ha, holy site will take 15 turns (and generate +7 faith for me). Russia is a monster.

Mods in MP is possible already, just make sure every player has the same version and the mod activated.

Is asding niter which is essential part of the stuff you're going to do earlier, or later in the list gedemon?
it's game breaking, so it's part of the stuff to fix before going from alpha to beta. there is an option to let civ6 generate the resource instead of importing it, but then the starting locations may not be balanced (random resources around without special placement for start position yet)

You can get a relic in goody huts, that gives +4 :c5faith: you add the +1:c5faith: from polices it's 5.X per turn, I think it was that

Anyone tried the Europe map? How big is that? Is it with TSL?
Can a 1GB video card deal with it on strategic view play?

I see that hormigas civ5 "Play again Europe" map is 108*80
so that is 3 times the civ6 standard map - bit bigger that "large" in civ6

Some testing on various starts showed that the TSL doesn't always work. Sumer starting in China, Russia in Ireland, etc. Tried the Greatest Earth and Europe maps. In my current Greatest Earth game Russia is in (in the right location, but I didn't put Russia in as a civ). Sumer hasn't been located yet (it's not in Sumeria), and Kongo isn't in Africa.

It's not a wrong install issue.

Hi
first of all GREAT JOB

there are some minor issues
1. no Natural Wonders, which is sad

2. the Great Earth Map is set to have 8 Religion
but since there are only 7 beliefs in the game, the game stops at 7 Great prophets and doesn't spawn another one (maybe it spawn for Arabia I do not know)

So started a new marathon game as host in a MP for Test reasons with that "largest map and TSL" as Russia and 11 AI ..
spawned where Mosow should be, what was a good sign :)

VERSION 3
____________
BARBARIANS
The first turns have been perfect and "FAST", but once again,
when I met a barbarian and a hut spawns in the already visited part, turns are 3-5 minutes long !
Already have turned off all animations .. tried it under borderless window also , low settings etc. NO DIFFERENCE !

Any CLUE ?
___________
CITYSTATES
do they already have TSL and how many are there ?

___________
GAMESPEED

Please could someone include an option for +100% and +150%
that + 50% is still too fast for the largest map
and +200% too slow

Thanks

Is it possible to give England and Japan already the Trait to water their settlers ? Nothing else, that would be great !

seems
no chance with that settings ...
anything OC of your hardware ?

have a i7-6700K 4.5Ghz, 16 GB DDR4 (3200 OC) RAM , GTX 980TI OC , 500 GB M2 SSD ...
also crashes sometimes, maybe too often, but that happens WITHOUT MODS in CIV VI also !
Firaxis always has Memory and Timing problems, so all their games "hate" OC hardware, even if it is factory OC, and crashes random all the time ...

I haven't read all the posts on this yet, got through to about the 2nd or 3rd page, and I completely understand that this is a alpha, I'm not trying to be a dick, just about through a half bottle of jack daniel so far:)

That being said (and I fudging wish I had read through this thread prior to this ordeal) I just spent the last 5 hours mildly drunk trying to TSL as America. The first time I loaded this mod up with TSL on earlier today, I started on the west coast. fudging GREAT, super happy but I hadn't adjusted graphics so it was taking a little while to load and process turns, but alas I had to go to work. Came back and that's when all this started. Took a few shots, wanted to play civ, 5 hours of restarts to try and get back to god damn america with bruh teddy but nope. It kept spawning me in the flipping outback or in china. Sometimes Italy. Wut.

Not super concerned about it, but it was a waste of a night. To be totally honest with you, I've never had a TSL mod work. EVER. even in Civ 5 there were a few nights were i'd spend multi HOURS trying to get a restart on the continent I wanted which made no absolute sense to me. What are the god damn statistical chances that I'll spawn on a continent? 60% china, 10% italy, 10% australia, 10% africa, 10% north america? Man this was frustrating. This same problem is what drove me to the dark side in civ 5, this is what got me started on the map editor mod so I could have a god damn say in where I started :l

I look forward though to future updates, I can't wait for steam workshop, I'm no stranger to mods but hitting "subscribe" is way easier than downloading and extracting ;)

I'm off to try one or two more times, hopefully I'll get a North America start, but we'll see. Will report with results.

EDIT:

Nope, was unsuccessful. Started a few more times in australia, this time south america, africa and china. The RNG gods must have been smiling down upon me earlier today when I loaded this up for the first time and landed in California. Oh well.

Ah, also for the record, I've only been playing with 6 civ's total. I don't like long load times. Me, India, Sumeria, Russia, China, Rome. For about half of tonight I had switched out england and Sumeria thinking that England was probs classified as a western civ, but that didn't help at all.

Make sure you have alpha 3, once you start a game, go to advanced setting and set the Giant earth map, verify it's TSL in options, and it should be fine
