YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

I'll do some tests this WE.

For those who are able to launch a map in ludicrous size, can you post your hardware configuration AND your GPU drivers version ?

I had no problems running dozens of autorun trials, and my own (manual) games on:
Windows 7 64 bit.
i7-4790 CPU @ 4.00GHz, 16Gb RAM.
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 970; Driver version: 376.53

I also had it run sweetly (pre-patch) under Linux Mint 17.3 on my other computers.
i7-7770K CPU @ 4.20GHz, 16Gb RAM.
NVIDIA Geforce GTX 1070.
Driver version: 375.66-ubuntu0.14.04.01

Post-patch ?

I've seen many reports of crashes since by people who were able to use ludicrous size pre-patch.

Pre-patch worked perfectly for me. I was able to copy a code to get extra units and gold and tech into it. After patch its gone bonkers. I installed new CIV from steam, installed new YnAMP from zip, beta.5. Well, so far it does not work with or without DLC.

Yes. Those timing runs I posted earlier are all post-patch and with all the DLCs
released so far. I only played with no barbarians, marathon pace, and 60 city-states.
I can't see those choices (apart from maybe no barbs) making a difference to whether it
crahses or not.

I only got one freeze on exit in several dozens of trials.

Just so You know. Mine YnAMP pops back to WIndows with request to inform Firaxis Yes/No window.

I have never had Civ 6 or Ynamp crash on me since the very first release. The
worst I get is a freeze on exit sometimes under Windows after a long session.
That's easily fixed by using Ctrl-Alt-Del to kick up the Task Manager and
killing the non-responding program.

I'll describe how I set up my Windows 7 and Linux Mint machines in the hope it
helps some of you who are having problems.

I delete every file in the Civ 6 directory (the ones in the MyDocuments folder
in Windows, or in .local/share/aspyr-media/Sid Meier's Civilization VI under
Linux) whenever there is a new patch or when there are new versions of Ynamp.
It's tedious to do and to then re-input your settings, but it has worked for me.

For example:
Delete all *.txt, *.json, *.sqlite files in the main Civ VI sub-directory,
and the Cache directory.
Delete all *.log files in the Logs sub-directory.
Delete all save files, in the auto, quick, and prev sub-directories.

Those files should not interfere with mods and fresh new ones should be created
after a patch and/or DLC are released and you run the game for the first time.
I do not trust Civ to overwrite any old files, so I delete all of them, and then swear
at them as they disappear from the recycle bin. (Not strictly necessary, but very
satisfying, especially with Windows.)

I do not use any other mods except Ynamp and Add-Ons. (I did use AI+ for a week
and it worked, but I got rid of it after a patch fixed a few AI problems.) I have
also used the zoom-In mod, and it works for me, but I would not until you
have a working version of Ynamp.

I have graphics at their lowest levels, or I disable most options, except
anti-aliasing at MSAA 2X. I keep Vertical Sync checked.

I turn off all sound, the Civ advisor, and leader animations. They probably
don't interfere with mods, but I hate them.

Apart from those, I have:
Quick Combat and Quick Movement Enabled.
AutoEnd Turn Disabled.
No Animated Time of Day.

Good luck!

Hi, brand spanking new user here only reporting post Nubia crash with YnAMP.

YnAMP worked great for me pre-Nubia, Largest Earth (nasa supercomputers hates it) becomes almost the only map I play, ever. Then Nubia came, game would crash every time loading a new Largest Earth map. Then I found out beta .5 added Nubia's TSL, thought it would fix the crash since pre-Nubia would not have Nudia TSL, makes perfect sense. Except, Beta .5 still crashes loading Largest Earth. However, I am able to create and load into Greatest Earth Map with exactly the same settings I setup Largest Earth (15+ non-duplicate leaders, 20 city states), so that's the weird part to me.

my HW: i7-6700k, 32gb RAM, GTX 1070. Except for all the official DLCs, the only unofficial mod I have in my game mod folder is YnAMP. and like I said, everything worked fine until the point of Nubia. Just reporting.

Try deleting all the old files I've described above, then re-install Ynamp.
Also, I'd definitely use the "No barbarians" option, and all graphics to the lowest you can.

Boom! Just cleared my steam folder with old saves and mod folder, and that did it! just successfully logged in a brand new Largest Earth map with Nubia. Thanks!

now, I think I'll take some time tweaking some of the TSL as you suggested in previous posts. GAME ON!

Delighted that I could help!
The trouble is that I have no idea of which file, or combination of files
causes the problems. I got into the habit of clearing all of them out and,
because I've never had a crash, just stuck to that course.
Maybe someone with better forensic skills will track it down one day.

These changes can be made in the Map.xml file in the GiantEarth sub-directory.

6. Australia is a very slow beginner. It can be sped up if the starting
position is moved from the "standard" start. In that case, Sydney appears as a
city-state which gives Australia an uninterrupted boost in culture for a long
time.

Hi, so in GE, does Sydney automatically becomes a city state (assuming I generate enough city states to increase the odds)? or should I manually add Sydney as a city state in the map file with Australia's original coordinates?

another question, if not too much to ask for...how can I mod the terrain feature of the map? specifically I'd like to add an oasis in the Australia central desert so that I can settle a city next to Red Rock natural wonder. Previously when I played the Largest Earth, there are 2 oasis close to it, but not in GE, which makes the wonder kinda...useless. thanks.

Sydney is automatically a city-state, but then it is not created as such
because the default starting position for Australia is in the same location.
That is why I suggested a different starting position for Australia earlier
in this thread.

I gave some suggestions for different starting locations for Australia. With
those, Sydney will appear as a city-state. There are a couple of really good
ones that also come up within coeee (as some of us say here!) of Australia:
Auckland is terrific, and so is Nan Madol, but you aren't guaranteed to get
them every start.

Sorry, I don't know how to mod the maps to create features like oases.
There are several good modding tutorials in a separate section on this site.

I understand your frustration with Uluru on the Giant map. I play Australia
almost exclusively, and the way I use the surrounding tiles is to set up cities
fairly close and then build outback stations to give the city you build near
Uluru some good food and water. Of course, if you can get Petra in a city
nearby, then that is even better!

I did that, relocated Australia to "Darwin", even as far as creating a new city-state "Sydney" in the (GE) map file bringing total number of city-states on file to 31, and created a GE map with 31 city-states, still no Sydney...idk what's wrong.

Another thing, given my frustration with Australia on GE, I kinda want to revert back to LE (though can't have Barbarians just like you said, can't have the best of everything). And I want to do some TSL relocation with LE map similar to what you did with GE map. I guess my question is: is there an easier way? because I've been doing just trail & error with guesstimated coordinates, sometimes it would crash the load, figured my guesstimated location probably ended up on a water or mountain tile, the process is pretty torturous. Any pointer would be much appreciated!

If you just try guessing co-ordinates yourself, you might end up in the sea, or
some other "forbidden" location, and the program will crash.

I don't know about Largest Earth, but with Giant Earth there is a very extensive
list of locations in a file named CityMap.xml in the same directory as Map.xml.
You can look up the co-ordinates for the location of the city you want in that
file and then replace the coordinates in the Map.xml file.

For example, if you want to start in Adelaide, look in CityMap.xml. It shows:
<Replace MapName="GiantEarth" X="97" Y="10" CityLocaleName="LOC_CITY_NAME_ADELAIDE" Area="0" />
which is the location of Sydney.

In Map.xml you will see the line:
<Replace MapName="GiantEarth" Civilization="CIVILIZATION_AUSTRALIA" X="92" Y="24" />

Replace the X and Y ordinates so it now looks like:
<Replace MapName="GiantEarth" Civilization="CIVILIZATION_AUSTRALIA" X="97" Y="10" />

When you restart Civ, your settler will appear in Adelaide, you lucky, lucky bastard!
Drop in, but bring cake.

You might not be getting Sydney to appear as a city-state when you choose only
31 city states. I always choose 60. Also, it might be that Sydney doesn't appear
because others have been (randomly) chosen by the program.

I noticed that using the Closer Cities option in Gedemon's Add-Ons mod changed
the behaviour of many things in the Giant Map, for the better!
Firstly, it made Giant's Causeway, Eyjafjallajokull and Lysefjord wonders appear.
They never did when I used the standard separation of 3 hexes.
Secondly, a whole raft of city-states came up that didn't before.
For example, Antananarivo was never created because, I presume, it was too
close to the Tsingy wonder on Madagascar. Auckland appeared for the first time
as well. (That's a great one to get, and to keep other civs from finding for as
long as you can, btw.)

I also use the Remove Close City-States mod in Add-Ons, which removes Lisbon,
Brussels and Geneva, so you don't actually end up with 60 CS in total.

Nothing to do with the ludicrous map crashes ... I go back to the previous verse that was fine ... can I play lost with Nubia?

Let me know if any of the previous version works for you, but IMO it's the game's patch that has made the ludicrous size less stable.

Which version(s) of Windows have you tried?
I have had absolutely no problem with Windows 7 and the hardware I described earlier.

I was answering bagigino post, I'd like to know if any previous version of the mod is working for him, but I highly doubt it will be the case.

I was asking for the drivers version because some games patches may require drivers update.
