You gig/concert highlights of 2006

I had the pleasure of once again seeing David Gray while he was up in Scawtland. I still can't fathom how a person can be so energetic and so lovely while strapped to a guitar or piano. A fantastic concert.

And his drummer was still insane which I always appreciate.

In addition, I also got a chance to listen to Ray LaMontagne, who was the support band for Gray. He has a very pleasant voice, and a fantastic beard, and I'm going to be seeing him this next month. Very rare I see a support band do that :)

leeds festival was amazing! i stood in the pouring rain on the last night, and as muse struck their first note i thought i could die happily. i cried and cried happy tears...

So I just found out that the venue where we had that amazing gig...the venue where we played in Downtown Columbus for the first time, a place with great emotional value...just closed yesterday.

Damn it.

I'll actually slap my face in shock if anyone has heard of them but I saw Soil and "Pimp" Sessions live in Osaka last week and it was the best night of my life.

Muse, both in St Louis and in London.

Otherwise, nothing much to report on. Various solo classical recitals which varied between staggeringly good and tiresome - but not by anyone of note.

Blyth Power are not touring this year (issue with needing babysitters), so that rules out one of my favourite live bands.

Bic Runga in Paris. I was standing at the front and I got to meet her afterwards. It was the first and only time I've ever asked someone for their autograph

Jhonny Walker - a Northern Soul ALL NIGHTER, this XMAS. was a blast!

the APPLES. funk-hiphop-soul act. lots of brass.
if you're in the UK, look them up as they are going on a tour there in the very near future.

COLD CUT. did the last album stuff. killer VJ, Killer tunes.

2006 was a bad year for me concert-wise.

I did however see the Norwegian band Raga Rockers in my hometown Fredrikstad this summer. Sound wasn't quite right, but what the heck it was out in the free, cold beer, and silly drunk ladies there...

17th Floor and Hairbanger's Ball, both are from Chicago and both came to Carbondale to play!

Saw Richard Ashcroft at the MEN Arena. Wigan's gift to the Music World continues to do us proud :smug:
