The World is Mine
TO: President Bush, United States Of America
FROM: President Lula, Brazil
ISSUES: Ethanol Cooperation, War on Terror and Misc.
Under current agreements, our two nations are cooperating in the expansion and global distribution of Ethanol as a fuel source. We believe the best way to wean your nation from fossil fuels is to set guidelines for percentages of ethanol vehicles. Much like in Brazil, where a majority are ethanol running, greener vehicles. As in our nation, where 25% ethanol/gasoline mixture is mandatory. Such efforts should begin now in the United States, and Brazil will continue our cooperation with you on this. Together, as two of the leading democracies of the world, must set an example to other, high pollution states, not only abroad, but in the Americas as well. We are interested to hear your position on ethanol production, use and the future of our cooperation.
As the War on Terror spreads, it is our duty to keep our economies running strongly, we both understand the importance of keeping jobs in the Americas and cutting back on oil consumption from abroad. It is our understanding that many oil producing states are hostile towards the USA, we can work together to reduce their petro-income, and possibly reduce the amount of money handed to the wrong people. Brazil stands beside America in keeping our borders and people safe, we hope to cooperate into the future on global security. We can only begin by working closer together. Issues we would like to bring to the table include, living standards and the economies of Latin American nations, curbing drug trafficking, halting and reversing illegal immigration, and many others. The New World needs a new form of community participation. We can't stop all the problems quickly, but we can set standards for others to aid us in our goals.
