1700AD Scenario

My Suggest!

Brazilian Empire(It's was a Empire)
Spawn Date: 1820AD
Leaderhead: D. Pedro II --> Getúlio Vargas
UP: The Power of the Coffe: Farms produce :commerce: and food.
UU: Pracinha (Infantry)
UB: Soccer Stadium (Amphitheatre) , 2 Hapiness and 2 Culture.
UHVS:
Colonize Amazonia by 1910AD.
Build the Cristo Redentor by 1950AD.
Make Rio de Janeiro the most culturally advanced city in the Americas in 2000AD.

The UP's name is just hillarious

But seriously, the UB needs to be more modern. +2 :culture: is irrelevant by the 1800s. Maybe a replacement for the supermarket? or the airport? or just about anything less ancient.

There have been quite a lot of suggestions regarding brzil as of late. Even though it's implementation would have to wait for the decolonization mechanic, i will give my 2 cents:

UU: Jagunço, replaces grenadier, requires rifling instead of military science, no attack bonus against rifleman, free woodsman I and guerrila I promotions. A total repurposing of the grenadier, but one that overlaps a lot with the regular rifleman. Basically it costs slightly less, and can be easily upgraded to move through the brazilian hinterland. Its main purpose is to ease brazilian settling of the center west and amazon, but in an all out war you will always want riflemen to do the heavy duty work. Not sure if it will work, but jagunços are certainly an icon of brazilian folklore.

I also think a mechanic to obtain oil from sugar should be present, much like standard ethanol used to do. Probably available with ecology, and should be relevant to brazil's UHV to represent how its power post peak oil

And if a wonder UHV is present, i think it should be: build cristo redentor, wembley (represent maracanã, is it still present?) and three gorges dam (represent itaipu)

Power of THE COFFEE. The best coffee ever brewed! +10 :) in every city in the universe.

Why not just Slavs? (Yugoslavia and around)
IMO after 1700, Greece should be just an independent city "Athens".

I don't think Slavs would be a good name. Slavs include Russians, Ukrainians, Poles, Czechs, and more I can't think of now. I think that Yugoslavia would be better but that would give it a very late spawn date (1918 IIRC).

Could I bring into consideration the idea of either Serbia or Bulgaria as a civilization (but Serbia might be a little more realistic).

Greece. There's about 1 tile for Serbia, and maybe 4 for Bulgaria. Greece (ahistorically, but necessarily) represents all the Balkan nations.

I don't see why we would let them spawn later either, there are a lot of minor civilizations which aren't represented. Greece's a possibility, though, since they're already in the game.

Well neither Serbia nor Bulgaria nor Greece were independent in 1700.

This. They could have scripted spawns/respawns, but they shouldn't exist at the start of the scenario. The Ottomans should control all of the Balkans at the start (and in general would have a game like the Byzantines in the 600 AD scenario--start out as the most powerful civilization but endure/combat a long, slow, steady decline over the course of the game).

Spoiler :
I think Canada would need to be added to this scenario. It is one of the largest countries in the world, has the 10th highest GDP, and it would be pretty to see Canada on the map.

It should pretty much spawn from any cities colonized in the Americas north of the U.S. that aren't owned by the U.S. (except Alaska.)

I don't know what the goals would be though.

Also maybe add a Switzerland as a joke.
No foreign countries in Switzerland by 1850
No foreign countries in Switzerland by 1930
No foreign countries in Switzerland by 2000

I disagree about the idea for a Swiss civ. In my opinion, however, the title representing them should become an impassable mountain of independent culture in Spring 1901.

Diplomacy, anyone?

is this to be fixed as it crashes on start, i've read this has happened before and been fixed or is it simply waiting for a particular update as i would love to play this scenario.

You opened the file from this post, right?

Problem seems to be fixed :goodjob:
Stupid Babylonians. They stole Baghdad without me knowing of it :p (I couldn't open the worldbuilder either without crashing)

Also, it isn't playable yet, you'll have to wait for that until Leoreth incorporates it in DoC :(. There's also still some work to be done with techs and such.

thought id already answered this sry, i got it from this thread and put the map into the mods public maps along with 3000 B.C. and 600 A.D.

There are multiple files in this thread though. None of them will work but the latest, I think.
It's of course possible there's a fatal error in the latest file too - but I tested it, IIRC.
Just opening the scenario by double-clicking should launch the mod if it's in the right directory, no need to move it to public maps.
(Oh, and it's not playable yet - no techs and the like, although you could chance that yourself. We'll have to wait until Leoreth returns)

I do not know if this info is useful, but talking about names and Slavs:
Yugoslavia means literally southern Slavs.
