2015 New Year's Resolutions

No New Years resolutions, ever, but I do plan on working until I'm 70.

oh man i know i'm supposed to change new year's resolutions after new year's but i need to change my sights from jennifer lawrence to emilia clarke

i'd tap her eyebrows SO HARD

She could my dragon.

I don't really do resolutions, but I've had a bunch of time off work and so time to think about life, time to spend with friends and family, etc. So it really does feel like a new beginning, so I figured I might as well write down some things I should improve in the new year:

- I need to get into shape, start regular workout sessions, get into some cardio, maybe a self-defence class
- I have a lot of DIY projects on the go here at home that need finishing in 2015: replacement of broken parts of fence, entertainment room needs to be finished, new office floor, new guest room floor, I need to build a shelf/storage system for the office, parts of the deck are going to be replaced with cedar boards, and I really want to construct a garden. I have also been thinking of finally painting the kitchen, and finally buying a chandelier and a dining room table. There's a lot to do.
- There are a couple improvements I could make at work, I think I have identified key ones that I should focus on. Will sleep on this.
- I have to remain vigilant in my Norway trip planning efforts, in terms of ensuring that when I get there I know enough about the country to be able to make snap itinerary change decisions if necessary... and also for reasons of minimizing costs - the more I know, the more I might be able to save.
- I should join an indoor soccer league so I have something active to do in the winter
- I have to finish that website me and my friend have been mulling over, before the winter is over.

- publish 3 manuscripts (okay, 2 are written, so that should be possible)
- continue with sports (and ideally get rid of some fat; != lose weight)
- get even more active
- get a GF before I turn 30
- until the point above: Ask out at least one girl/month
- need to do at least one thing which counts as "crazy", so that I have something to tell in case someone asks me that again

Sounds all very likely, besides #4 and #6.

I'm going to add to my list:
- start a martial arts (Kickboxing is on the list)
- get a positive attitude
- speak to a new person each day

Last one is also likely to fail, but let's try :D.

1 and 3 will contribute to 2. 2 will make 3 easier and easier. 1 will reinforce both.

:D

Well, if I were to make some resolutions, they would be:

-Survive studying in Germany
-Start working out again
-Start jogging
-Get nicer clothes

The last three would really help with other problems, too.

Keep up the trend of improving my overall GPA each semester until it goes above 4.0 and shatters the space-time continuum so I can go back in time to improve the financial and academic decisions of younger Zack. Maybe kill Hitler too, if I'm not too tired.

I have never been much of a believer in New Years Resolutions. They tend to be kind of overambitious and people lose track of it after January. How about trying something crazy, like:

This year, I'm going to dance between every set when doing weights! Ya! Rack up 335 pounds and deadlift. One. Two. Three. Four. Five. Drop and bust a move!

Now lifting to dance music makes sense!

Funny how most gyms are over-crowded with newcomers throughout January, only to get back at their usual attendance a few weeks later...people forget their new year's resolutions too quickly, myself included.

More appropriate might be assess where I am at and change something up in the game plan with a goal in mind. So the goal might be to increase the number of people I interact with on a daily and weekly basis. So changes might be:

Give Facebook a shot. (I watched the South Park episode and to this day I refuse to facebook.)

Check out different churches in the area. Who has advice on how to interact with a non-denominational mega-church? The one I checked out last Sunday has a pickup basketball game.

Go to meetups. Be social. Actually go.

At the physical level, I do not know if I will gain ten pounds this year or lose ten pounds, or both. Last year, I gained a lot of weight, but I put up a lot of numbers. The goal I am thinking about is bench press. Body weight. 5 sets. 5 reps. Right now the difference is about ten or fifteen pounds and I do not care at the moment if I gain or lose ten pounds to achieve this goal. There is an old thread on this forum dedicated to this.

Check out fitocracy?

Remember to boil some eggs the night before going to work. I remembered to buy them, but I forgot to boil them. Again.

Career is okay. I am very much employable, but very much unpromotable.

Did I miss anything?

You can resolve to gain 8 pounds...
