I’m bringing up some stuff from another thread but for what it’s worth to some of you (such as Lexicus) I actually voted the straight democratic ticket during early voting for the midterms.
My way of looking at it is the legislative branch is the most powerful when it comes to actual governing and decision making. The Presidents power is far more limited but he symbolizes which cultural momentum the county is headed. The legislative branch is much more powerful, but the president is who ordinary people actually watch on the news.
I’m in Texas and I think Beto will lose because of the cheating but it’s a shame because a lot of people like him and I love the idea of Texas finally getting a Democratic Senator. Not to mention Ted Cruz is a nutjob.

I too voted straight ticket this year. Also voted down a few money grabs propositions by the elderly and the rich (and of course their is massive overlap in those groups). One issue was that they wanted to give themselves a tax break when selling their homes (and over 55) at the expense of school funding. They went further by using very disingenuous ballot/voter guide language. They tried to claim that their new tax break would help the disabled ederly find homes - however, that particular provision is already law and would not change. Instead they are essentially trying to expand that favorable tax break to all old, rich people and take the money from children's education to pay for it.
Disgusting.
There were similar propositions that resulted in tax cuts for the rich at the expense of infrastructure revenues and the like but the example above was the most morally bankrupt idea I've yet voted on in my life (I wasn't here for the gay marriage propositions/bans).

Seattle is just my favorite place. I’ve been there a lot but I don’t live there. I live in Texas. The vast majority of my politics are what most Americans would call left-wing.
I am:
Pro-environment, anti-interventionist foreign policy, tax the rich to help the poor and middle class, keep abortion and gay marriage legal, much tighter gun control laws, legalize marijuana, regulations that are designed to minimize corporate corruption, etc.
The rich in this country keep getting richer, the environment is getting ruined, immigrants are being deported and treated like they're worth no more than cockroaches, etc. It's pretty easy for me to vote the straight ticket for legislative positions.

TL;DR - It is essentially praising him for being politically courageous enough to (unlike other prominent Democrats), take a clear position in support of the NFL kneeling protest, in Texas, no less... a state where it was obviously extremely risky to do so.
I early voted today as well. Elizabeth Warren was on the ballot... also reaffirming protections for gender identity... so that was pretty easy

Could mean any number of things. But the main reason stock prices have risen during the Trump Administration is because corporations are using money that could be used on increasing wages/benefits or even on R&D on buying their own stock back and paying dividends to shareholders.

I can't tell you that, because I don't really know. I'd imagine they try to do it so that any tax burden associated with it can be most easily minimized but I don't know what that entails.
Dividends are usually paid quarterly and on average amount to 3-5% of your investment value at distribution. A stock fund that focuses on companies that pays higher than average dividends can earn a bit more annually.
