Trump Indicted!

So hush money isn't bribery? Hmmh.
I am not sure it really is. Bribery is paying someone to do something wrong, is would not have been explicitly wrong for a porn star to not tell the world about Trumps little willy.

That's hardly my fault. I'm just reporting news.

It would have been better if the senate had barred Donald Trump from running for public office again when he was last impeached.

Who knows. In that alternate world timeline the US electorate might even have had a choice of two good candidates.

Mmmm, yes. Crimes can be committed by ommission, but Stormy Daniels was under no obligation to tell anyone about her customer.
Yeah, it's a shame the political and monied classes protect their own, it would've been much better if Trump had actually been convicted. No?
I can just imagine him locking himself in his cell and just insulting everyone on Twitter and throwing everyone under the bus in one of his manic rages.

To have that, the US would have had to have a) a Republican Party where everyone was trying to move away from MAGA instead of trying to become the next Trump and b) a Democratic Party that wasn't trying to stay alee of the Republicans instead of finding its own position.

Senator Bob Menendez just got 11 years in prison

“You were successful, powerful, you stood at the apex of our political system,” the judge said. ”Somewhere along the way, and I don’t know when it was, you lost your way and working for the public good became working for your good.”

Menendez’s actions, the judge said, feed the cynicism of voters.

“What’s been the result?” he said, noting a lengthy investigation of a five-year crime. “You lost your senate seat. You lost your chairmanship and you lost your good name.”

Will Trump free him like that Illinois governor?
He must think, is 11 years fair?
Is corruption really a crime?

Good luck Gold Bar Bob, you jerk.

Man Trump pardoning him would be even funnier than Trump pardoning Eric Adams

Trump has officially appealed his convictions in New York.

Trump hired a new legal team from the firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP to handle the appeal, spearheaded by the firm’s co-chair Robert J. Giuffra Jr.

Whoa, those are top-shelf lawyers!
How did he get those?

I thought the entire legal profession considered him radioactive because of the way he treats his lawyers?
He usually only gets c-tiers.

Giuffra and four other lawyers from his firm stepped in after the president tabbed his two main defense lawyers, Todd Blanche and Emil Bove, for top positions in his administration’s Justice Department.

:hmm:

... I guess they are good enough to lead DOJ...

Continuing the Corporatist Criminal Democrat to Trump Sycophant Pipeline

I'd've thought the recent decriminalisation of bribery by SCOTUS would extend to cases such as this.

Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids! Takhisis, evading legal punishment is for Republicans!

Of course, this is why people like Mendenez will try to transition into being Republicans, to get around the law. We should of course, refuse to acknowledge this transition, because there are only two political parties, and whichever one you are is innate and something you are forever.

I won't link it, but here's a screenshot I took from a NYP story about this (cc @Sommerswerd)

Mercedes-Benz? That's a foreign automaker.

I disagree. Trump pardoning Adams would be at least as funny if not funnier than him pardoning Menendez.
Spoiler :
:mischief::p

A pardon might not even be necessary.

Justice Dept. Is Said to Discuss Dropping Case Against Eric Adams

Senior officials under President Trump have talked with prosecutors in Manhattan about the possibility of abandoning the corruption case against New York City’s mayor.

How on earth?

Mr. Adams was indicted in September on charges including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign contributions after an investigation that began in 2021. He has pleaded not guilty, maintained his innocence and contended that he is being prosecuted because he criticized the Biden administration’s immigration policies as New York has received a historic influx of migrants

Birds of a feather then?

In recent weeks, Mr. Adams, a Democrat, has curried favor with Mr. Trump. He met with the president-elect near Mar-a-Lago, attended the inauguration and has said that, from now on, he will share any criticisms of the president in private.

The mayor of our #1 city, a bootlicker? :(
