2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

Honestly, the Cowboys might find a new QB (or wide receiver, or something). They cannot possibly keep everyone.

But if you fear he will prove to be better that average and have to pay him more it could scare you into rushing into it.

Well that means you're paying a ton for a great quarterback which is a WAY better problem than playing slightly less than a ton for an average one who isn't going to get you a ring even with the players you bring in from the savings.

Yeah, that's probably better thinking but it seems they want to lock in all their key pieces for the next 6-8 years.
If you're expecting the cap to keep rising it may work for them.

The cap always keeps rising year after year AFAIK. I'm no Cowboys fan despite living in Northeast Texas so I don't particularly watch their games. But based on what I know: he has one very good wide receiver in Cooper, a top-notch offensive line, and a top-notch RB in Elliot. You could consider what he has to work with on offense to be mediocre at worst IMO.

He seems to perform well with what he has, but what he has is pretty good. Whether someone who meets that description deserves "elite QB money" is another question. If they don't think they can just draft another QB on a rookie contract who can put up similar (or better) numbers then they have no choice.

"Cap to keep rising" is pretty much a given. "Cap to rise fast enough to salvage the situation in Dallas" is a non starter. I think they will have to give up on Prescott, which I don't think is a terrible thing.

They'll make it work. The supporting cast will suffer.

Good article, even if it made my head hurt a bit trying to figure out all the possible combinations.

Damn, sucks to have drafted A. Brown in fantasy. I figured he'd last longer than before the season started. But that was the risk you took. Of course the worst thing is that he'll probably end up on the Patriots now.

Wow. Just wow. Kevin Colbert's IQ just went up a few more points.

Nah. AB knows that Darth Hoodie would Force choke him to death instead of suspend him.

Maybe the Seahawks will pick him up for pennies on the dollar due to their lack of leverage. I doubt it, but crazier things have happened. :mischief:

If this is a sign of things to come, Green Bay is going to be pretty hard to beat.

That said, OTOH, the decision to pick Tribusky rather than Mahomes or Watson is getting harder and harder to defend.

Because they scored ten points? I know the Bears defense is strong, but the new Green Bay offense was awful. And looking great against the Bears in week one doesn't actually say that much one way or another about their defense.

I expect the papers in Chicago will be questioning the choice of not playing any of the starting offence all preseason after how out of sync they looked.
And no one in Chicago is buying the defense of Trib over Mahomes.
It sucks to be in Chicago this morning. There's a dark cloud overhead. Losing sucks but triple so when it's the ********* packers.
Requiring a few turnovers to win is not a winning strategy.

Well, that's true. It's the reason why I refused to pick Aaron Rodgers in my fantasy: I have little to no faith in their new head coach. He didn't put up good numbers in Tennessee, so I doubted he would do much better with a promotion. Should have just stuck with McCarthy lol.

BTW they confirmed Antonio Brown will be playing Monday.

Saw that coming. Who improves their chances of winning? Ain't Mike Mayock. Who are people buying tickets to see? Ain't Mike Mayock. Who is going to win that confrontation? Ain't Mike Mayock.
