Trumps no ones puppet, that's my point above "All it proves is that the campaign against Trump wasn't the real reason most people and the elites didn't want him President."
He definitely has some incompetency about him, but I narrow that down more to his narcissistic behavior.

Both the Democrat and Republican political parties favorite presidential quality that they look for in a potential president is a pliable stooge, think Barack Obama, George Bush Jnr., Bill Clinton etc. One only has to look at the front runners in every primary and you start to get the idea.
