I heard on the news today that the US is sanctioning Belarus now for having an unfair, rigged election and my first thought was, "Why are we punishing them for doing what Trump is openly declaring he is going to do?". We have no moral authority anymore.

It seemed almost every day over the last week, I have woken up to news of right wingers driving cars through local BLM protestors. They're doing their best to start a full on race war and it's only gone unnoticed because of the nonstop flak machine that is Trump.

And of course it's not the right wing protests that get showered with tear gas and rubber bullets now is it?

The question is - why do the rioters dont focus on police stations and instead burn down buildings in business areas which have black owned businesses. Maybe someone can explain that to me, i just dont get it. The only reason is i can think of is - just as with enabling Trump winning the election - they just dont care

I worry that if Trump dies, a big chunk of the vote will not turn out for Biden as planned, since many are just voting against Trump. Pence has stayed quiet enough that most people who don't pay attention don't really know or hate him.

Thats a good point... but trump wasnt gonna accept the results either way if he looses. Hed start a civil war just to stay in power, and i believe hed be able to start one, after for months spreading distrust against the election process("rigged election") fear against Biden ("hes a radical left puppet") & hate against biden voters ("they are all violent rioters that will destroy our country").

Hi - i dont see the parallels of your comparison to the topic.
Posh ladies in furs actually - in most cases - contribute to the issue of unnecassary animal cruelty, because they wear that fur.
However, how does the average (regardless wheter white or black) small business owner contributes to police violence? How does the average car owner contributes to police violence? Neither of them does.

they are far more likely to get themselves shot,
than if they target local small businesses.

If the animal rights activists targets leather clad bikers gangs,
they are far more likely to get beaten up or gang raped,

The verdict of the Amsterdam inhabitants was that the authorities were too violent as most inhabitants supported the squatting movement for dealing with the massive real estate speculation taking place in the centre and old workers neigborhoods, where we wanted social housing.
The speculators lost.
And the old guard social democratic politicians (damn arrogant) was mostly removed incl the mayor.

And yes... we were very aware that destoying shops would cost us popularity AND legitimacy among the inhabitants.

Trump getting rushed to the hospital and receiving specialized experimental treatments not available to the public will undermine his inevitable "not that serious" claims when he recovers, since the average schmuck that contracts coronavirus does not have access to helicopter rides on Marine One or polyclonal antibody cocktails. But I'm sure he will downplay all that and claim that corona virus is no different than a common cold or flu since he recovered from it like it was nothing.

My point is, if animal right activists attack targets wearing woman, they do not contradict their goal.
If rioters, claiming to do that to reduce systematic racism and police violence, attack random buildings, including black owned small businesses, and attack random ppl, including innocent Black Americans, they do contradict their selfdeclared goal.
Thats like if the animal right activists would start killing every dog and cat they meet on the street.

I don't see the "logic" in Trump jr's post. Then again, if you call yourself "Trump jr" and are a middle aged guy, no one should look for logic in your posts.
If Biden gets covid, it is highly likely he got it from Trump.

You lack imagination! The press has been caught in the literal crossfire at protests already and been targeted by law enforcement while Trump has spent the last 5 years trying to discredit and destroy all non-friendly press.

He did outright make up voting numbers last time (3 million illegal voters) and I expect more of that this time. Even more troubling, he now has a state apparatus and power base to enforce his lies by say, assigning all EC delegates in some states to himself regardless of the vote on the pretext that 'it was rigged'.

Moreover, he and his allies are telling us this is what they are going to do. I take them at their word on the matter.

The conference they had to celebrate her appointment is turning out to be a super spreader event. All of a sudden now Mitch McConnell is allowing remote/video participation by Senators for her hearings and will probably even allow proxy voting after resisting it for months just to keep her nomination on track. But at this point there is a good chance her confirmation won't happen until after the election purely due to their stupidity with respect to spreading Covid.

The thing that makes all of this so morbidly hilarious is that we've known how to control the virus with testing, contract tracing, social distancing and mask wearing for months but the GOP decided to forgo all of that due to pure hubris. Starting months ago, many GOPers were practicing all those things - and while they got called out for being hypocrites as they publicly decried anti-Covid measures while privately practicing them, it didn't seem to hurt them politically. Now that they've stopped privately enforcing the rules, they have hurt themselves politically.

It's just massive amounts of hubris.

But changing Senate rules require a majority vote, so Democrats can easily refuse a proxy vote now. Or stop a quorum. .
